The first crazy LSU crowd I saw was LSU beating Kentucky in OT, maybe 2OTs, on a last second shot by Mike Darnall (sp), the LSU point guard at he buzzer for his only points of the game. It was in either 1974 or 1975 I think. The PM Assembly Center was rocking that night.

'78, '79, '80, '81 Kentucky. '86, '87 Kentucky. (See a theme here?) '89, '90, '91, '92 Kentucky, '92 Arky. Also '90 UNLV, '90 LMU, '2000 AZ. Some of the many soldout, wonderful crowds over the years.

Darnall's buzzer beater? May have been vs Alabama in 1973.

Do you remeber Dale Brown's first win against Kentuky?
What year was it?

Arizona 2000
KY 2000
Duke When Hurley was playing. Probably the loudest and we lost.

Also Tennessee in 2000. Harris was a frickin baller and Tenn was ranked IIRC. we lost but the PMAC was 15k strong & loud. I was at the game from Shreveport. Honestly when I became an equal basketball fan as much as football.
Eta: hadn't even read the OP at the time of the post.

1978 when LSU topped Kentucky in overtime using 5 reserve players as all of the starters had fouled out.
I was doing play-by-play for cable that night and couldn't even hear myself in the headphones.
It was crazy.

Pretty much the entire 2005-2006 season. That place was packed to the rafters to see Big Baby and Tyrus play.
You talking about the year we started off 8-5. no it was most definitely not packed in december. Hell Tyrus didn't really begin to start until January.

Been going to the games for 40 years and although I think that the NCAA tourney games against Memphis State and Purdue in 1986 were the best to watch, the LSU/Kentucky game in 1980 that we lost on a last second shot by Kyle Macy was the loudest that I've ever heard the place (with the exception of the piped in crappy music) and sorry for the run on sentence that I usually am a nazi about.

craziest fan wise for me was LSU vs Ole Miss in 89. Chris Jackson vs Gerald Glass
got there late (1 hour before the game) student section was already full and the stand by line was 4 wide all the way down the ramp and wrapped toward the field house. i knew a ticket taker and was able to get in. As the game started the marshall began seating people on the steps in each aisle. people were already standing 3 deep all the way around the upper walkway. awesome crowd, awesome game. Ole Miss defeated LSU 113-112 in overtime in perhaps the greatest one-on-one duel in Southeastern Conference history. LSU's Chris Jackson tallied 55 points, while the Rebels' Gerald Glass hit for 53. The 108 combined points is the most by two players in an SEC game.
FIRE MARSHALL said, "never again!!!"
