I've been out of pocket. What's going on with Victor?
More man coverage as Aranda continues to add dimensions each week. This should allow more blitzing from the inside backers. Look for the LSU sack totals to continue to mount, eventually reaching a record pace.
If Fournette can heal up sooner than later I think 8-5 or 9-4 is still possible as the defense and OL will continue to get better.
With a very disappointing offensive effort, not helped by several key injuries, this team still came within a pitiful Harris interception and another clock melt-down of being 4-0 right now and rocking right along with "Lucky Les". Amazing. Agree that with just average QB play and execution this team could win 6 or 7 more games this season, including a bowl.

uummmmm we only played 11 regular season games in 2004 versus 12 in 2005

and..............saban mailed it in that cap one bowl. we shoulda had 10 wins that year which really woulda made you miles boys happy no?

Wrong. 2005 there were only 11 regular season games. Tigers were 10-1 with the only loss being the Hurricane forced Monday nighter when the team was mentally and physically exhausted. Then Russell got hurt against UGA in the SEC title game, not that UGA wouldn't have won anyway. LSU then destroyed Miami with Flynn at QB to finish 11-2.

Orgeron's desperation at Tennessee was much worse than anything Hugh Freeze ever did at Ole Miss.

And LSU's situation is much worse than Tennessee's in the early 2010s.

That's quite a pant-load, even for you, Eddie.

What troll?

You entered the meager receiving stats of his tight ends as if that meant something of value regarding his ability to call plays. His guys have 5 catches out of 7 or 8 total targets. He has never called plays for an offense with the kind of skill guys at his disposal so it will be interesting. Not expecting anything earth-shattering, otherwise he would have been an OC somewhere. Apologies if no troll was intended but I still think you'd be good at it.
The Tigers hosed themselves by taking far too much time to get plays off on the final drive. In an efficiently run 2-minute offense, when a play is over the receivers should be instructed to line up on whatever side they've ended up on and the QB is supposed to adjust the play call to said alignment.

Until now, Steve Ensminger was coaching the TEs:

And NOT calling the plays. Nice troll, though.

Fournette missed an entire game. As hampered as he's been with the ankle injury, I'm surprised he has that many yards.

He actually leads in ypg. If he can get to 90%, which seems questionable at present, he will likely lead the SEC in ypg in spite of playing with a serious injury. Currently a game-time decision for playing against Mizzou according to Coach Orgeron.

Les made LSU a likeable program nationally. We'll be taking a lot of criticism for some time to come

Agreed. People do understand it's the Administration and money guys who've run the ship aground, however it's a lot of negative publicity for the university. Some of that will likely adversely effect recruiting; both of players and coaches.

I know they are looking but will LSU hire a guy before the season is over?

Not unless that guy is currently unemployed as a college head coach. This is so ridiculous. No one worth their salt would even admit contact during the season.
quote:

Keep in mind he won in last minute versus Ole Miss in 2007, 2010, 2012, and 2014. He very well could have a losing record against the Rebs, even in their worst era between 2005-2011.

Sure Eddie. He also should have beaten the Rebs in '09 and '13 sot the horrible era and beyond could have been even worse.

The melt would be incredible

Doubt it. In the emotional aftermath and turmoil of losing their beloved coach, it would not be surprise for the Tigers to let down and lose. Hope not. Hope they send Mizzou packing with an arse-whipping. We shall see.
quote:

btw, it's not inconsistent nor contradictory both to honor the man for his accomplishments and let him go because he couldn't do it anymore. the majority of LSU fans feel this way.

From what I'm hearing out in the public this isn't accurate. Most felt Miles should be allowed to play out the string once again. Not like they couldn't have arranged to have him announce he'd be leaving at season's end and they damn sure won't get either of the guys they want until then. The administration has bungled this for a year. That's the consensus of opinion in the public, which is a helluva lot more folks than this message board entails.
quote:

Well he got a lot of money in the process.

And a well-written contract as well. His defense has given up 4 touchdowns in 4 games. If he left LSU today he'd have another top-paying gig tomorrow. Other than him personally thinking a lot of Coach Miles, Aranda is in a good place, business-wise.

21-0

I'm not seeing it.

Since that game LSU is third in the SEC in win% behind Bama and UGA, and 15th in win% nationally. That's not exactly dead, imo.

Agreed. Frustration does not = dead.
Sure they do. But they're not likely to do that from what I've read. The thing is, LSU appears to be better against the run this season than they were a year ago so it's going to be strength against strength on both sides of the ball. Both teams can and will run the ball well at times. I'd say the team which executes the passing game the best will win this game.

I remember after that play the announcer kept going on and on about how if that pass fell incomplete we lose. Even though there was a second left on the clock.

Actually there was 4 seconds left on the clock when Byrd made the reception. Had it fallen incomplete they would likely have set the clock to at least 3 seconds.

IMO, this is a beautifully done troll.

Agreed. And btw, Key blew buy Ramsh*t for two sacks in that game.

I agree with some of your takes, however it should be noted that thousands of Tiger fans are currently displaced from their homes and/or involved in rebuilding their homes due to the millennial flooding in August. I personally know quite a few season-ticket holders who have not been able to attend either game. Doesn't fully explain away why some people spend all of that money only to drift away early, although the complaints regarding the alcohol ban do play a part for some.

I don't think anyone can deny that recruiting has saved Miles' job.

That and his 114-33 record.
quote:

Man, I think we look good. The offense we are running is a lot better. Defense is playing better, as is special teams. We can definitely win every game on our schedule if we keep this up.

This team reminds me some of the 2002 team which got off to a shaky road game loss but got better week after week, culminating in the Tigers crushing the life out of the Gators in Florida. Unfortunately, Mauck was also lost for the season in that game which caused the wheels to come off a bit. Keeping Etling healthy appears to be the key for an improving offense. By mid-season, the Tiger defense may be the best in the league. ST are coming around and the play-calling is opening up. There is a slate full of tough SEC games every year for that matter. This group has a lot of upside IMHO.

re: Jordan hare stadium

Posted by RANDY44 on 9/20/16 at 1:10 pm to
Many of their fans either walk or have very short drives to the stadium and rarely leave early. Very cordial to visitors, even when the Plainsmen are playing poorly. Overall a great experience.(obviously they may not treat 'Bama folks quite as well)

re: Etling is better.. but is his arm weak?

Posted by RANDY44 on 9/20/16 at 1:08 pm to
WTF? You're either trolling or a poor judge. Etling has made a half dozen throws in his first two games that are as well-thrown as anything Harris or Jennings ever did. Fair to say he's closer to Matt Mauk or Flynn in talent than to Russel or Mettenberger but he's got above-average QB skills in the SEC already.

re: Auburns gonna beat LSU

Posted by RANDY44 on 9/20/16 at 12:55 pm to
Sure they will. In fact LSU may just lose 7 straight; right before they club the faggies into kingdom come... one more time!!
quote:

LSUSports.net says the 2005 Appalachian State game wasn't televised, not sure if that's accurate

Pretty sure this is correct. Got tickets late and LSU won something like 26-0 over the eventual FCS National champion that season.
quote:

I do not think the crowd is gonna ruffle him at all

Agreed. While at Purdue, Etling played at Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Michigan State and Penn State amongst others. Not exactly a bunch of cup cakes. He also started at home against the likes of Ohio State, Iowa and Nebraska. Kid has faced some stalwart competition, with a very below-average supporting cast. He'll be just fine at Auburn.
Sure. That's just what Les had in mind when he contacted Aranda's agent the day after Steele resigned.
