If Brady does nothing else other than train the WR's, tight ends and running backs to catch the damn ball, he is worth everything LSU pays him.

JB doesn't go 21-24 in a vacuum. How many drives have you see stall this year because of a dropped pass? Now compare that to years in the recent past.

you're dumb. Obviously you need a competent QB, but he was here last year too, how did that shake out?

He was pretty damn decent last year too. Obviously the offense is more open/air raid, but if not for refs/SEC we win 11 games last year.

People act like we still played Les ball.

To answer the OP, nobody really knows. It’s pretty obvious that we are grooming Brady for an eventful OC takeover, but Steve has been an integral part of our offensive turnaround and doesn’t get near the credit he deserves. I think they work in tandem situationally in game, but the concepts were brought over from the Saints by Brady.

The relationship only works so well because Ensminger loves LSU and seems to have very little ego, especially compared to other coaches.
Not everyone is ok with finding/training his own replacement and letting him take all the credit.
They should name an award for selfless play after Ensminger when he retires?

I've always heard that Ensminger is an OC that is very good at calling someone else's offense. Folks have speculated that he would have been really good calling Fisher's or Hermann's system (the two top HC candidates last time) but that he would be mediocre at best being "the" guy for a Defensive minded head coach or a CEO-type of coach (which, I guess, is what Orgeron is).

I think LSU has found a way to leverage Ensminger's "game calling" skills with the obvious creative talent of guy who is inexperienced at "game calling". It's only a matter of time before Brady is an elite OC and I think that is the plan at LSU - for Ensminger to step aside in some way, maybe return to being a "TE coach", and for Brady to be the OC.

He was only decemt, relative to what LSU is used to. 57% Completion percentage. 16 TDs, the whole year (He's at 25 right now). 133 college passer rating. Obviously the talent was there, but it's not even close. And the biggest variable here is obvious.
Now he's been put in a system to succeed.

I would bet that this will be the case at LSU next year. No way Coach O lets his magic lamp get stolen.

Think of Brady's role as a technical advisor/subject matter expert when it comes to offense for LSU. And, the OC in waiting. Ensminger never wanted to be the OC but also didn't want to leave LSU in a jam and wanted to be of service to Orgeron - all at the same time. He really is a good guy at heart. So while he may be the current OC and physically calls the plays on the headset, the real behind the scenes is Joe Brady. As much as he brings to the table for Steve Ensminger, Ensminger is probaby teaching him things about recruiting and NCAA compliance and administrative training for the role of a coordinator. It's a symbiotic relationship between the two.

Basically, the 180 you're seeing at LSU is the same mindset that Brady learned under Sean Payton with the Saints. It's not the same offense, but it's the same approach. Spread the ball out, utilize all your weapons, never be a one trick pony type offense. It's a 180 from what we used to be, and that 180 is 100% tied to Joe Brady being here this year.

how do you come to this conclusion?

I have no idea but I would think JB gives SE suggestions on plays based on how the defenses are playing us...I seriously doubt he is getting his own series to call plays

Yeah. I wish I can find the quote. But Brady talks to burrow so that Steve can get ready for the next series. They are working as a team. Getting plays down quicker, we've only had a few times where we had to call a time out for not having the play.

But Brady was brought in to install the rpos. Steve admitted he needed the help. Most likely because it's something he's never done before.

And if you look at our losses when Steve was calling plays by himself, the offense was shite, and unimaginative. It was the same shite we saw under Cameron.

Brady does the detail work, Steve is more big picture. Calls the plays. Brady is also in the booth as his spotter. They work side by side in developing the game plan before and during the game.

It’s not a big secret that he’s the OC in training. The problem now is that other schools and probably the NFL will come calling after the season.

If we manage to keep Brady, prepare to eat some shite. Is Brennan going to put up Joe Burrow number next year? No, but you will still see very good numbers being put up by Brennan next year. Remember, Brennan has the stronger arm of the two QBs and was just as accurate in high school as Burrow was.
