It would but LSU isn’t going to lack in NIL. I’m not sure when all of a sudden people started to think LSU and their boosters are poor. They failed the first year of NIL doesn’t mean they can’t fix that.

LSU treated NIL how it was intended to be. Let the players go out and work on their own deals, give them access to the university’s brand, and promote the shite out of the players.

This! I think all schools aside from Bama, Texas, and aTm thought this was how it was going to be.

I never said our boosters was the poors. IF LSU doesn't figure out how to play the game the way our SEC brethren are playing it, it could be detrimental to recruiting. I guess time will tell if we fix it.

We fired our coach and hired a new guy. The early signing period results have nothing to do with NIL, and everything to do with that.

It’s a little of both but I agree it wouldn’t be as bad bad there not been a coaching change.

No. NIL was never an issue no matter what any of the local nitwits say.

LSU had a lame duck Head Coach and staff for the crucial recruiting period during the season for over 2 months. Recruits had no idea who the Head Coach, OC, DC, strength coach, or their position coach was going to be.

Meanwhile other schools were recruiting kids as usual. NIL? Really?

Kelly got here 2 weeks before the Early Signing Period. He did a great job getting the EARLY SIGNEES to stay on board. Now Bama and A&M are full and LSU has until February & plenty of scholarships and time to recruit plenty of highly rated players. Then there is the portal which Kelly has already used to land the #1 Tackle available and he could have gone anywhere. Do you think NIL wasn’t offered by Ohio State or FSU which were his other 2 finalists?

LSU will be fine.

it was probably more like we have a retard in Ed O running things and we didn't have a chance to really pull together what we needed.

I suspect under Kelly this should be much improved.

LSU was ready to fo for legitimate and naturally occurring NIL. What is going on at Bama and A&M is just dressed-up bag men, which LSU I am sure will catch up to when no paying millions in buyouts this year.

LSU will never admit it, but they put too much faith in the Matchpoint guys and their new App..... Walk-Ons, Stingley were all part of it.... and Hannigriff also in the beginning .. That is my theory on at least part of the reason we are behind

Honestly, us not having bagmen has costed us. The money A&M is throwing out is flat out buying themselves a championship.

The lame duck coach argument is right on as another reason. Good point.

Anyone have real numbers on this? What are LSU football’s total NIL deals currently and what are the numbers for some other SEC schools?

Hogs should be able to compete with anyone as far as NIL deals go. Between Walmart, JB Hunt, and Tyson they should be throwing some big bank at any recruit.

Walton family doesn't donate as much towards athletics as you would think. Yes they built that basketball arena 28 years ago, but most of their donations are academic related.

They are certainly not the funds that A&M, Bama, or Arky just threw out. Supposedly Gordon is fighting to keep Boutte for us.

It’s BS tho how some states like FL now can have companies come to the school and offer players with the schools arranging the deals. It’s madness how out of hand it is.

LSU fumbled the entire fricking process.

The entire college football world said this would change the entire dynamic of recruiting and the transfer portal with one time rule with no penalty and LSU was like....

The NCAA was really bad in their guidance. The guidelines are clear as mud on how much the institutions can be involved.

I think what LSU did was err on the side of caution. Not unrecoverable. There was some hesitancy, I think, because there has been a perception that the NCAA has had a hard on for LSU lately.
