I’m not up on the top freshman playing for other SEC teams, so what are his chances winning of SEC freshman of the year?

I doubt that Curiel will ever have the power that Crews had. But he will be his equal at every other aspect of the game by the time he leaves LSU

So by next year? He’ll be a draft eligible sophomore and gone. Love him but he’s not putting up Crews numbers.

It’s comparing two great freshman campaigns.. Curiel IMO is a better pure contact hitter. Going where the pitch takes you, working counts but it’s really close in this department as freshman. And curiel prioritizes quality contact over power.

The difference is the power and it’s a sizable difference at this point.. crews hit rockets constantly and quite few were caught.. that’s the reason it’s not really close when you step back and compare.

Todd Walker had a better freshman year than both

Both give me the confidence that he's going to do something good at the plate when his number is called. It's a special skill. Curiel puts on some weight and some of these warning track fly outs start netting 3 RBI's and he'll have Alex Box rockin

Stupid thread is stupid. And Crews was not the best player in SEC history. Catch your head, man.

he’s top 3 n LSU history.

where he falls in that top 3 is debatable.
an argument can be made for 1, 2, or 3.

Wrong
Well, Miss State had a few good ones. Go see what Will Clark and Rafael Palmeiro did there.

Auburn had Bo Jackson and Frank Thomas, who also did quite well.

And that's not addressing the dozens of guys like Todd Walker or Eddy Furniss, who were elite in college but didn't translate to the bigs.

Curiel will never catch Crews’ total stats because he’s draft eligible next year. Wish we had that man for three years

They have the same K rate despite Crews playing about 20 more games against good competition.

Why don't you hop into any of the other threads from this weekend where you were made to look like a retard? Your boy couldn't even shake hands with Jay without complaining.

Also, where do you think Curiel stacks up with some of the other top SEC sluggers this year like Tears and Dreiling? Haven't kept up with them as much but I'm sure they're lighting it up in conference play.

Actually, I’m looking at 2022 Crews when he slugged .800 vs the SEC

Freshman Crews in the SEC

.310/347/.527

7hr 17 rbi

Curiel is on pace to surpass that
