quote:That's not true;
Best year BK had was his first year and he's got continually worse so you can quit with the 39 scholarship players bullshite
season record was the same the next year. Offense got MUCH better.
Defense cratered, but that was a one-in-a-million bit of bad luck. We counted on Greg Brooks to lead the secondary, possibly be All SEC at safety... he got a brain tumor. That threw things off.
Going into the season, we expected the defensive line to be the strength of the defense- and then we lose our defensive line coach for the year right before the season, just like Brooks. It was too late to get another guy, so they tried (and failed) to spread that to other defensive coaches, and eventually got a guy to come out of retirement just to run drills and try to coach them up.
If Brooks stays healthy, we have a safety cleaning things up, and making calls.
If Jimmy Lindsey stays healthy, he coaches Wingo, Jefferson and Maason Smith up, and the line is better. House can focus on linebackers as his group (along with coordinating the whole defense), and Perkins and the guy from Oregon State look better.
We were still stuck with no young corners to develop, so we had to hit the portal both 2022 and 2023. Last year's group wasn't as good as the year before, and the best guy from last year (Alexander, who wouldn't have started in 2022) got hurt midseason. Proper depth will correct that issue, but it will take time and recruits.
This year was always going to be a rebuild after last year. You lost the bulk of your offense, and you lost your entire defensive staff and had to start a new scheme.

Yep. Our fan base is really tough to deal with. They will simultaneously celebrate all of the other sec schools losing, but still think we should win out. Despite week after week parity presenting itself and the realization of the new college landscape, most still think we should win every single game despite still building our roster. Support the team, celebrate the good, note the bad and help LSU improve. We love to immediately turn to “fire the coach” when it’s not the best solution for many reasons.
This is how every single school in the SEC acts. It’s not unique to LSU. It just means more

Well LSU is 7-4 and Notre Dame is 10-1. Maybe ND fans have been right about CBK.

Nothing wrong with holding Kelly accountable for the expectations he personally set. We did not decide year 3, he did.

haha thanks for showing us your football knowledge.

I had a poster respond to my question about our team by saying they were” Grade D dog shite!”
Such is the attitude and intellect of much of the fan base!

Jump into your time machine and go back to the hiring cycle when BK came on board in 2021. As I recall, the hot candidates were Lincoln Riley, Mario Cristobal, Brent Vanables, Jimbo Fisher and Billy Napier. Now ask yourself, of those 5, knowing what you know today, who would you have preferred over BK?

They can't control their emotions. Want instant gratification. Seems like they are doing a good job emulating our next President.

You forgot the other line, "we had a WR playing QB in the bowl game" as if there wasn't a QB on the roster.

Calling for BK to be fired AT THIS POINT is pretty wild to me. I definitely don't agree with every decision he's made and totally agree he has to be better in areas. BUT he came here with 39 scholarship players on the roster and hit the portal hard just to be competitive. He was lucky enough to hit on a lot of those guys and magically won the west in year 1. Even with hitting the portal hard, he was only able to get that roster up to about 68 scholarship players. 2 years later with players transferring, or moving on, you have to hit on all of the players you get in the portal and recruiting. He's finally at 85 scholarship players and likely many of those kids wouldn't normally be playing for LSU if we weren't still trying to field a full roster. We can talk about Miles and even O winning big but both of those guys took over established rosters. I've was hopeful that we'd get lucky and be able to turn it around with the portal in 2-3 years but that was always a fantasy. Personally, i'll give him 5 years in the program before I truly judge him as our coach. I also think we will learn a lot after this offseason with how he attacks the portal. There's a chance that he shites the bed and can't get it rolling, sure, but to be calling for him to be fired at this point with what he started with is insane to me
This sob story for a man with a $100MM contract is pathetic. Kelly knew what the situation was when he agreed to the contract. Kelly, knowing the situation, still said judge me in year 3.
So boo fricking hoo for a guy that can't deliver.

It’s the lack of toughness and attitude
What kind of player are we recruiting versus the risk? Title IX HAS had an impact on top of everything else - NIL was broken for Louisiana until after year 2. We are only in year 3. People are not facing the reality of roster transition on top of all of what the OP listed.
LOOK AT EVERYTHING.

LSU fans have annual stages.
Feb-Apr: man these guys have really put on muscle this offseason. Things are looking good.
May-July: I forgot everything bad from last season and only positives can be discussed. We will go undefeated and every player is amazing. Every coaching hire is the best in decades.
Aug: man these kids need to stop getting arrested but we are gonna destroy Bama. I hear there is a secret playbook and our
QBs can’t throw incomplete passes.
Week 1: well shite I was wrong. Who is our DC??
Sept-Oct: wait till next season. Maybe we need a new QB and coach.
Nov: seems like we will make the best hires in the coming weeks. I feel better than I did. Recruits coming in will fix the world.
Dec: I hear bowl prep is insane. We will destroy whoever we play. Secret playbook back.
Jan: disappointed but things are looking up. I’ll forget all the negatives in weeks.

Is it though? Because almost every team in the league is capable of beating anyone in the league, it makes the whole conference bad? I don't really see it that way.
Yes. With the amount of talent in the US, extreme parity almost always means nobody is good.
You can also take a look at your favorite efficiency metrics and the SEC is going to be as bad as it's been since the 2000s when those weren't really commonplace.

Actually he had 50. There were players out on injury

I'm realistic.
Predicted 8-4
Nuss isn't close to JD5 (all those Nussbussers in spring 23 deleted)
The WR room is overrated.
The defense is better but bad.
Swinson would be a dog.
More fans like me, please.

Where do we see signs that he is moving the program towards a championship?
_______
In recruiting. His recruiting has been solid overall. Yea, we just lost the top dog, but will finish around #5 depending on flips (in both directions). His past classes were solid.
