This is becoming a shite show! Go to the highest bidder...smh

Ewers enrolled early because he couldn’t cash in on NIL in high school/or Texas law. I don’t think he ever had any intention of staying at Ohio State longer than this past fall.

Not on the video clip but he said he heard that Aggies and bama offering him 150k.
He’s using bama / tamu to get a raise … hopefully

How much did our boosters raise to pay Max Johnson to go away?

NIL does not bother me, I believe players should be compensated. But damn, this whole reaching out to players that are currently on another roster? Miss me with that.
Exactly. That's just a little over the top. Even for the most ardent NIL/Portal supporters and even for college football in 2021, that's a little much. Bring a guy in and develop him and then boom, he gets cherry picked by a division rival. What in the literal hell?
Lol so bama can now not only have the best recruiting classes in the country but then they can wait to see which recruits work out for you and then take them too.
This is like Jerry Jones on meth with 15 first round picks, no salary cap, and tampering is fine.

Am I the only one who thought "KB" in the subject was Kendall Briles?
Posted on 12/17/21 at 11:53 am to Byrdybyrd05
Glad they’re doing it but why the hell are we just now sitting down to figure it out? That’s how we’re losing recruits. They need to get on top of this like the TX schools and Bama.

I thought KB=Kendall Briles

So he's not in the portal yet he's getting NIL offers from other schools? Isn't that a violation
I doubt Saban or Jimbo are calling him with offers. But I don’t think it is a violation for a NIL rep that isn’t directly tied to the school to call him and say, “If you were playing at Bama/aTm, I could offer you a marketing deal worth $xxx, xxx.

I just posted this on the SEC Rant. LSU is way behind the 8 ball and I don't see how they can keep up. The transfer portal will just be one big free agency free-for-all, but it was already headed that way.

When and if the smoke ever clears, the only college football programs that will be above the fray, are going to be, Army, Navy, and Air Force. No NIL, no transfer portal...Just the honor to serve their country.

Geeeez
What a shite show slimefest this has turned into
It’ll all come tumbling down
Wait and see
I could never ever imagine suiting up for LSU playing in DV and then leaving to go to a RIVAL frickING SCHOOL bc of a few dollars
Pathetic what it’s come to

Is it a violation for a business to offer an NIL deal to a kid with the stipulation he needs to transfer to x school? (bama)
NIL is governed by state law and most states (all but 19 (I think it was 19/read an article in the last couple of days)) have passed an NIL law. No two states have passed identical legislation.
NCAA is at present rewriting its by-laws, since outside sources of income are still prohibited. There is a draft introduced and awaiting a vote of the member institutions. However, it is weak and the big NIL requirement is that each member institution shall have a written NIL policy that it has to follow.
Unfortunately, like the drug testing policy I fear this also will be under the purview of the compliance department.
ETA: To answer your question, pay for play is against NCAA By-laws and will continue to be against same. As to state laws, pay for play is also prohibited by the states that have passed legislation.

Sounds like LSU is currently a feeder school for the BIG $$ DOGS.
NLI immediately went 100% out of control and is nothing short of pay to play. Worse than the NFL with free agency. No cap and the Wild West.

Seems like that should be tampering... I thought there was a rule other teams couldn't recruit players not in the portal

Hard to believe that the NCAA or the individual conferences didn’t already have some structure in place for this new normal. This thing has gone off the rails and no one seems to be in charge. It’s interesting how it mirrors our society at large these days. Open up Pandora’s box first and then try to figure how to put the genie back in the bottle after the fact.

There are so many D1 teams & interstate laws more consequential than league laws… you can’t just have an “invest what you want” free for all.
I mean you can, but the league will fail when it becomes a blatant farm for 3-4 schools & NFL.
