Was that the same John Ferguson that had 2 families in 2 different cities?

I like Chris. My favorite of all time was John Ferguson

Idk why you think that’s unpopular. I miss the passion and enthusiasm Jim offered.

I like Blair...why can't we like both of them?

Jim was a fan. Chris is still new to Baton Rouge. Jim was calling straight from the heart with his excitement and passion for the Tigers. Anytime we had a big win in football or a walk off in baseball, I always had to go and find Hawthorne’s call for those particular plays because they were always special.

This is spot on. Maybe Chris gets here one day but this is exactly what he is lacking. He is accurate but has almost zero emotion in his voice. To this day I still love going back and listening to some of Jim's calls where I have never thought to go back to listen to any of Blair's.

I actually thought about Hawthorne after the game Saturday. I’d have loved to hear him call that one.

but his "big calls" just don't get me excited like Hawthorne's did

This x 1,000. He needs to be more of a homer, IMO. But thats his style and I guess we are stuck with it

Blair seems like a “professional” radio guy who is gonna call it by the book. He has that sports radio “voice”. Hawthorne was the quintessential homer who called LSU games with a passion that Blair really hasn’t captured....albeit often flawed. I miss the guy to an extent..he was all LSU.

I like Blair more mainly because he doesn't let Doug Moreau interject nearly as much as Hawthorne did. Mreau gets on my last nerve.o

At least we didn’t end up with LYN “pucker up and kiss that baby goodbye” ROLLINS.

I’ve gotten blasted for saying this.

Blair sounds too sterile and rehearsed

That’s actually a great way to describe it

Yeah.

I really don't mind him otherwise but that is complete nonsense to me

Jim was the best. I grew up listening to him when I young and couldn’t go to games.

I like Chris, but after listening to Jim most of my life, he just doesn’t stack up

Thanks for listening guys. I feel better now.
Read with Irma Thomas "You don't miss a good thing till it's gone".
It wasn't so long ago rantards were watching LSU sports, volume down, radio tuned to Jim, just to catch him in a mistake and have something to post about next day.

Good times.

Listening to Jim Hawthorne in my head always makes me think about camping out during hunting season and listening to LSU football games on the radio while sitting around the campfire and drinking Jim Beam with the guys.

Just due to nostalgia Jim will always be the voice of the Tigers for me.

Jim had an impossible job following Ferguson, Hill, and Moreau who are the GOAT. Period

Hawthorne was horrible. I could barely listen to him. Luckily he had Doug Moreau to correct his stupidity.

I'd much rather know what happened than have a broadcaster excitedly get the call wrong 2-3 times

Not me.
To me the two best ever in their respective sports were Harry Caray and Buddy D. It's about the experience not who gets it right every time. It's like in life, the guys that are never wrong are usually boring as shite.
