“Most of [the SEC teams] won’t play us,” he said. “They don’t want to play us and I don’t blame them. I mean, you don’t want to have a series loss to Connecticut on your resume. But what are we going to do? We got to keep marching on and try to find people that will play I think.”

LSU, Arkansas, Tennessee, Vandy, and Texas should all schedule weekend series back to back with UCONN.

It's pretty much what happened with Xavier. What makes them so different from UConn? Probably a head coach who is willing to actually make it work instead of just running his mouth.

I wouldn’t doubt that many SEC teams would prefer an easier opponent before conference play

UConn has done well for a while now

They beat Vandy this year in one game, but also lost to Missouri

it's becoming more and more rare to see enter series with that type of opponent unfortunately.
Teams are going more with the "tournament" style like Frisco Classic, instead.

and someone like UCONN may be trying to get a home and home set up.
and well who the hell wants to play an early series in freaking Connecticut?

They make regionals pretty routinely, and 2 supers in the last 3 years

Speak for yourself. You clearly don’t follow college baseball beyond LSU, and the latter part may be overly generous to you.

Great quote considering Missouri played UConn and beat them.

To be fair, Vandy scheduled them and lost.

And Mizzou beat them.

Maybe if they didn't go 0-fer in Puerto Rico to Mizzou, Stetson, and Penn State they'd have gotten in.

Losing a game to Mizzou was an automatic disqualification from at-large consideration. Really nothing else needs to be discussed.

Agreed but we do need to improve our OOC SOS from dead last amongst 16 teams in SEC. Imagine this wouldn’t have been the case if that unidentified P4 team hadn’t pulled out of a weekend series but still shouldn’t put ourselves in that situation.
