re: True or False: LSU would be better off right now with CWW and a Two Year postseason ban

How would a 2 year ban have affected our roster and recruiting? What if the NCAA did some sniffing around the football team too?
Is that the prepared statement for Woody's office?
Wooooo? What if! What if?
The big bad wolf.
What if we don't win another game this year? Is that going to hurt us more or less than a two season ban in basketball?
What did the football coaches do that was so bad?
So, if the Athletic Director doesn't do his job, allows unrestricted cheating by someone in his department,(Football) we fire a coach for show.
Was it Miles or Orgeron that was suspected of wrong doing?

LSU wouldn't be under a postseason ban this season and Wade was going to put a Top 10 team on the court. Is LSU better off with MM and not a Top 10 team?
People say this, but who would make up this top ten team? Which players did we lose that would have made us a contender and how are they doing elsewhere?

Wade was fired because his violations and also because the power brokers inside and around LSU wanted him gone. The same ones that got rid of Aleva and brought Woodward here.
While this sounds LSU enough to be plausible, I think the fact that we hired Alleva and then kept him through numerous failures would suggest that the "power brokers" don't really give a shite about athletics beyond its role in distracting the peasants.

I think we can totally live in a space where we can say we would be better off with Wade (at least now), but also recognize that his firing wasn't some disservice.

It certainly feels like we’re in a postseason ban yet this roster is way better than Brady’s first team.

mcmahon isn't sniffing the NCAA tournament while coaching at lsu

Your problem is LSU has struggled for awhile now at pulling strong booster support for the basketball program. It simply does not have the backing like football and baseball does.

True but also we were never gonna get a TWO year ban

Is there any possibility that things would’ve been different as far as punishment for the football program if Wade wasn’t fired? It’s like they agreed to overlook anything football related if they agreed to sacrifice Wade.

The OLOL case had not been closed
When OBJ passed cash to Joe
The NCAA saw a chance to expose
And lumped football in with Wade’s woes
They threatened penalties severe
For both programs, far and near
We chose to roll over, without a tear
To protect football, our golden dear
This news is common, no surprise
Discussed ad nauseum, with many sighs
Are you a true fan of LSU, or just disguise?

Well, he's not coaching them any different so maybe it's not the same as playing SEC teams.
this is not chess. Basketball is the least complex of the major sports in terms of thought process and strategy. Mix up the defenses, tel them to crash the boards hard, play the 3 freshman so you can keep them, just do SOMETHING.

so what happens when mcmahon loses half of this years team to transfers, graduation and the draft?
he's got 2 incoming recruits. 51st ranked class.

TOTAL rebuild.
No such thing with the transfer portal.

Still a thing with the transfer portal but you can just rebuilt totally in an off season.
Still gotta go get those transfers.
And it’s gonna be hard till we know one way or another about the NCAA investigation

Look I loved WW and still do but the guys that got the NCAA to come to town and dig till they found something weren't going to stop. Cal, Dick and Pat were gonna keep up their onslought. Hell, Forde kept recyling the same article once a month for 3 years and Dick kept tweeting the same tweets once a week for 3 years. A two-year post-season ban would not have placated them, they wanted WW gone and they were not going to stop.
And believe me they were backed by some powerful people which is why they knew they could go all out after WW but not "certain others" and we all know who those are. They were acting in the interest of some of those certain others.

What Wade did even violates the rules now. A coach can't pay players from his (or his wife's) personal account. He flagrantly cheated, got caught, and had no defense. There was no way this was going to end well. He made LSU an easy target and we would have paid the full price just so the NCAA and whatever relevant governing body there is could set an example and claim they are doing their jobs.

mostly brandon murray and julian philips. plus pinson would be solid at PG.
murray is an excellent two way player that would be a huge upgrade on both sides of the court. philips is one of the best young players in the league. not having those guys makes a massive difference. and there are others, maybe even shareef!
