Little League in N.La is the everybody gets to play and everybody gets a trophy league. It would be dangerous to put a 12 year old Little League team up against a decent AAA travel team up here. Sounds like it may be different in S. La.

My son plays multiple sports. I separate seasons so he has fun. He’s plays baseball and football right now but has played Lacrosse also. I wanted him to gravitate to what he wanted to do.

That’s dumb, pick the one you want him to fulfill you the most and make him excell there. He doesn’t run the show, it’s your house

At a young age they need to play multiple sports and enjoy as much as possible.

This is beyond a horrible observation.. the one thing these kids have these days is great fundamentals. There are problems with “travel ball” but the fundamentals at the highest level where many of these college players come from isn’t one of them.

I know maybe a few kids that play “travel ball” that dont play multiple sports.. The people who generalize travel ball are as bad as the few douche parents involved

There is some truth to that. I watched my nephew play 5 games in 2 days a few weekends ago. He played SS, 3B, 2B and pitched. In total, he probably played 8 hours of baseball. I would guess he spent 95% of his time standing in the sun. The other 5% was fielding 10-12 balls hit to him, took about 8-10 swings, and threw 75 pitches.

I thought it was an incredible inefficient use of time as a player. He'd have been better served spending 1 hour taking 75 ground balls, taking 50-60 cuts, and throwing a bullpen. Instead of 7 hours getting about 5% of those reps.

In what other world in baseball does a team play 5 games in a 2-day span? High schools, colleges and professionals don't play that many games.

They also played Travel ball which is essential what little league has become during the summer for that age group.. the all star teams are nearly completely arranged before the little league season.

I really wish admins would implement a system where they could take away peoples thread making abilities. 75% of the threads started on here are just plain stupid. No way of even being nice about it. Just some random thought pops up, and bam a thread is made.
That's Baseball.....That's LSU Baseball.....That's the Tiger Rant.

It's mostly a collection of bored "kids" seeking attention anyway they can and most have never played a single second of any organized sport.

I coached travel ball and we worked on basic fundamentals all the time. We talked about game situations and what to expect. Most part f the coaches we went against did the same thing.
