This needs its own thread

Discuss. I don’t even know where to begin.

Luis' attorney, Tony Clayton Jr., told ESPN that if Will Wade refuses to play the star guard, he will bring the LSU coach to court and ask a judge to hold him in "constructive contempt." Per Louisiana statute, a person who violates an injunction or restraining order can be fined up to $1,000 and imprisoned for up to six months
quote:
"I'm telling you we're going to use the long arm of the law to force Will Wade to play him because I'm not going to allow these folks to play musical chairs," said Clayton, who is also a district attorney in Louisiana. "We would bring in Coach Wade and move to hold him in constructive contempt. I would not advise anyone to be in contempt of court. This judge is real."
Discuss. I don’t even know where to begin.

he's doing this to give LSU/Wade more protection from the SEC,
He does not want to hurt LSU/Wade

Arbitrary and capricious

99.99% sure he can’t force Wade to do anything, but, I want Luis to play.
Luis helps LSU and pisses Sankey off. Win win

It would seem counterintuitive to his business interests with the state and school but the optics of this are absurd. The situation is absurd.

Really don't know how that holds any weight, the injunction is not to force Wade to play him. No player has a right to minutes, a coach can sit or play a player as many minutes as he sees fit
The injunction is not to force wade to play him, it is to allow him to be rostered, even still i am not sure how you can force a coach to roster a player
I am assuming he misspoke when he says "refuses to play" and meant "refuses to roster"

When Wade is asked about it by Sankey, or a judge in any SEC suit, he can say “I didn’t have much choice.”

I'm pretty sure he said the same thing about the football players and look where that went. He's the prototypical scumbag southern lawyer that you see in movies.
That said, it's always good to have a lawyer like him on your side when you need him.
At least he's fighting for his client.
Scumbag probably isn't the word I'm looking for but I'm having a brain fart right now. To be fair, I've probably had a brain fart my entire life, but I digress. Anyways, y'all know the ones y'all see in movies that I'm talking about.
Did it really though? Also, you got scooped by TD Staff Reporter or possibly Harry Leo as this was posted on the front page about an hour ago. That's pretty low. How does that make you feel?

Easy. He is on the roster but does not play a minute. A judge can't force the basketball coach to play someone.

I get that. But the optics are still uh interesting and worth commenting on. I mean read the article. Clayton’s comments read literally are threats to Wade. I’m not sure how Wade would not be be bothered by that regardless of Clayton’s motive.

Don’t you think Wade talked to Clayton about this maneuver?
“Threaten me with jail time. Put me in a position where I have to play him.”

Clayton just said in an interview YESTERDAY that he loves Will Wade.
He's ONLY doing this so Wade/LSU can point to the threat of contempt as a reason for rostering the RJ or at least getting the SEC to publicly abide by the TRO

Yea, that’s a lot easier said than done to put a a caliber of player like RJ Luis on your roster and then never play him. Knowing that player could take your team from a 2nd rd NCAA tournament team to an elite 8/final 4 caliber team.

This is 100% cover for LSU and Wade.
This is what we want. This is what we need.
Thank you, Tony Clayton.
