Now, if you want to say it should be in week 2 or we have a week 0 tune up? Sure, that’s reasonable. But I like the big OOC games and wish we had more true home and homes with P4 teams.

People underestimate how beneficial it is to prepare for a big time game in week one all off season.

I understand it hasn’t worked out for us recently, but the point still remains.

The focus and effort is much higher in preparation for, say Oregon, as opposed to someone like a Southwest Arkansas Tech

Everyone around the team in 2011 credits having Oregon on the schedule week 1 with their great focus and intensity of the off season.

Absolutely idiotic to schedule this game in this era.

I’m glad to have this game. If LSU is a real contender they will be in the playoffs, with or without scheduling Clemson.

Doesn't matter. It is a must win for Brian Kelly. LSU cannot continue to be a program battling uphill every single season. 6 opening game losses in a row is laughing stock territory.
Prepare for 7, unless the Defense plays lights out.

Offense/Nuss will be crippled by the upcoming OL shite show.

WE (I graduated from LSU so I can say WE) lost 4 OL starters (All NFL Draft Picks) and only signed 2 Portal Transfers to replace them. Not enough.

Bk seems fine with it.

This mock draft is fluff. Most of these are projections based upon potential and athletic upside rather than production so far. Clemson’s DL was the weakest part of their defense last season

Agreed, but just like in 2011, winning the big games now means little to nothing when the media darlings can lose 3-4 and still be considered for the playoff.

LSU isn't one of those programs that has that luxury.

This game was scheduled before BK was hired

If someone other than a player, coach, or staff member can say we, then any fan can say we. There is no qualification for that other than being a fan or a player.

We have at least 5 guys on the team who took snaps at O-line last season still on the team, several who started games. Plus a couple of pretty good incoming freshmen.

It's dumb if we continue to do this in the 12 team playoff era.

Actually it’s not nearly as much of an issue because of the 12 team playoff. Clemson got smoked by UGA week 1 last year and made the playoffs

It’s just stupid to never give yourself a “warm up” game. We played Ga So week 1 in 2019 before going to Texas.

If Nussmeier is who LSU fans think he is, there is nothing to worry about

He'll catch some heat but it's not a must win. Making the playoffs is a must and this game really won't decide that. 10-2 is the bar and this could easily be 1 of the 2 without affecting our overall goal.

This is why WE recruited the OL as well as we have the past few years this is college football nothing about this is new. WE have former 5 stars and top 100 recruits filling those spots that will go on to be drafted themselves

Give me a break. Clemson was very overrated last year and made the CFP despite losing to South Carolina in the last week of the regular season. They also got whipped by Texas in the Round of 12 at the CFP.

Unless Clemson makes some significant leaps forward in the offseason, they’re going to get whipped by an LSU team that is absolutely stacked and poised for a natty run.

Everyone is sleeping on LSU and underrating them because everyone’s focused on last year’s results; this is going to really work to our benefit this season because teams aren’t going to know what hit them early on.

Exactly

The mouth breathers need to stop focusing on what we lost on the OL and start focusing on who is replacing them. The replacements are some pretty damn good players across the board.

CBK does not prepare well for opening games. Prove me wrong.

The word around the program is that he coasts during the summer, comes in later than others in terms of weeks before start of fall camp, and it takes longer to get up to speed.

Thus the first few games of not being ready for strong competition.

No, it’s not. I won’t be content with a loss @ Clemson, but it certainly is not a “must win”

Won't change anytime soon as next year we once again will open up against clemson

But it has changed. We don't have any tough OOC after Clemson at home. That's it. Rest are like ASU's, etc.
