Okay, what about 2006 and 2011? those are arguably 3 of our top five LSU teams ever. People forget that up until the 2011 Championship Les was very highly regarded. He had a few decent years after but that game changed him and he coached differently after that game.
Oh and for the idiots on here, Les won with Saban players, Saban won with Denardo players and O won with Les Players. I don't want to hear the bullshite.

2011 Les rode the defense to victory, which Les had nothing to do with. And he was a horrible coach in 2009 and 2010 as well.
Orgeron may have used some Les players, but the offense had zip to do with anything Les did.

...into the ground. It may have been the best defense ever assembled at the collegiate level, especially when you consider how limited our offensive game plan was. Les left that defense out to dry.
ETA - Omaha or goodbye Paul

Paul took his team to the finals two years ago in Omaha. Last year his dad and mentor died in February and he spent the year without the fire you guys are talking about. He also lost 3 quarters of his starting rotation to injury for the majority of the year. I think you guys are stupid.
That sounds great. Can you explain what this has to do with the post you responded to?

Lunatik, that wasn't directed to you. You are one of the level headed guys on here and we both were on the same side last year defending Mainieri. My bad...
I agree this year is very important, what I don't agree with the majority of this board is that we base our decision on our performance last year or the fact that he reminds people on here of a football coach we fired 3 years ago.

First practice hasn't happened yet and we're firing the coach. tRant never fails

LOL, it may not have been the best defense at the collegiate level that year...
But it might have been the best Defense LSU has ever had.

No problem. I'm a huge Mainieri fan and if for some reason he does have a down year, I think it's time to at least start discussing a new voice. He's been here a long time. My word of caution to those that want him gone now is that he's going to get another job and he would most likely do very well. It's possible that he could goto a rival SEC team and be a thorn in our side.

Guy c'mon we went to the championship series and battled fla toe to toe down to the wire. They had 3, maybe 4 big league arms on their staff and 3 of them were starters. That was a good team but in the end Florida's pitching talent and depth was too much for just about any college baseball team to handle.

Paul doesn’t have a process. Look at the number of players in the program 3-4 years. Same old swing and same size. No weights, (oh I forgot. You don’t have to be big to play baseball.). It’s you don’t need height, but 99 percent of mlb players lift weights. I guess Paul knows more than they do. Don’t get me started on the swings and plate approach.

Skip is probably too senile these days to do any of that
Plus he thought hiring Smoke was a good decision
