Actually, other than the LSU/Wisconsin game, they look like decent matchups.

Ohio State would fave their first real offense of the year.
Clemson would face their first real team of the year.
Oklahoma would get it’s first taste of an SEC caliber team this year.

Honestly, Clemson getting in on their schedule is a joke.

What else could they have done?

I hate the idea of penalizing a team (especially one who is UNDEFEATED) because the rest of their conference is shite. They scheduled two SEC teams who presumably should have been quality opponents.

Wisconsin wouldn’t make it. I thInk UF would get in.
I think Baylor would be the 8th seed.

The CFP committee would have perform similar to the Hoops selection committee and develop a NET score equivalent, quadrant system, metrics and factors such as those below;
Complete box scores and results.
Head-to-head results and results versus common opponents.
Imbalanced conference schedules and results.
Overall and nonconference strength of schedule.
The quality of wins and losses.
Road record.
Player and coach availability.

I think 8 is excessive. I’d be open to a 6 team with 1&2 getting a bye. Let the 1st round play halfway between championship week and the existing 1st round.

I don’t think the season should be shortened or have weeks added.

The University Presidents had to have their arms twisted nearly off for the four team format. Good luck with the 8 team format, which I would support, but foresight isnt really a quality of the NCAA.

Just go to 6 conferences and make the CCGs the first round of the playoff.

After the CCGs, seed the 6 remaining and the top 2 get a bye.

This would make actually winning your conference critical and would not penalize teams for playing tough OOC opponents.

Clemson is gonna be a tough out man. They are not a favorite against OSU for no reason.

I’m grateful we don’t have to play them in the semis.

Six should be the maximum.

8 adds too much time to the back end and eliminates more bowl games.

Five P5 champs and then the best G5 team, OR just have the last spot be an at-large, whichever is the better option for that last spot.

No one below #3 deserves to play for it. Needed a #4 so stuck in. I have zero desire to see this expansion
just because this particular year there's a clear drop off after #3 doesn't mean we shouldn't ever expand the playoffs.

I'd argue that, most years, there are 5 or 6 teams that should be in. Expanding to 8 teams makes the most sense. The 5 Power5 conf champs get auto bids and then 3 at-large. Only one more round of games, which can be on campus. Then when it's down to 4 teams, do it like we have it now, with the bowl games incorporated.

Perfect system. It rewards conf champs, which makes every conference game important, plus the conf championship games are hugely important. Then for others that didn't win their conference but are deserving, they get an at-large.

This is a no-brainer.

Exactly, so we had an 8 team playoff. We just referred to them as conference championships. No need to expand

Not accurate, what about the PAC12 do they not count? It’s easy, 6 team playoff. You must win your conference to get in (Power 5), highest ranked group of 5 gets the at large spot. No more complaints from any team or conference, if you can’t win your conference that is your own damn problem.

good lord, you think we need all those absurd bowl games?

This year there are 39 bowl games (not counting the NC game). THat means 78 teams (out of 130 FBS teams) play in bowl games. It's a joke.

Besides, expanding to 8 teams only means that 4 more teams are added, and that's only 2 bowl games. And those bowls would probably invite other teams anyway.

When I was a kid, there were 12 bowls, so getting an invite really meant something. Now, 78 out of 130 teams play in bowls, and there are some REALLY bad bowl games out there. But they're private, so they can do what they want, but I don't give a damn about 2 bowls losing their teams.

They would find a way to say Alabama is one of the best eight teams in the country.

Fact.

Entitled little bitches.
