re: This is what an 8-team playoff would look like

The problem is not the number of teams as much as the disparity in the conferences.
Most years recently the Pac and Big 12 don't have a top 4 team yet get in because they win their weak conferences.
I don't think OU or Oregon could beat Auburn, Alabama, Georgia or Florida. OU may squeak out a win against one of them but unlikely.
More than any other team in college football (maybe Auburn) LSU gets screwed over the most by being the best division in college football. The only one remotely close is the Big 10 East.

No more complaints from any team or conference, if you can’t win your conference that is your own damn problem.
Will you feel the same when LSU goes 11-1 but loses to Bama, so we don't win the West?

This year was as good of argument for the sufficiency of 4 teams as there has ever been. The teams hovering around 5 (uga and Utah) both got embarrassed when stacked against top teams

Some years, yes. This year there are three very good teams and quite a bit of distance between the rest.

I’ve always wonder what a 6 team playoff would look like. Have the bottom 4 play it out, with the top 2 off with a bye week. The lowest seed advances to play the 1, the highest seed advance to play the 2.
1 LSU bye week
2 OSU bye week
3 Clemson vs 6 Oregon
4 OU vs 5 UGA

Still think we need an 8-team playoff?
Oh, well since in 2019 we don't need one we've never needed one in the past nor will we ever need one in the future....

A robust solution can’t be designed for one set of circumstances that occur in one specific year. A robust solution is designed to work for any potential scenario every year.
All Power 5 Champs and 1 Group of Five Champ deserve a bid to minimize political/off-field influence and to provide all of FBS something to play for, eliminating the potential for another UCF “national championship” claim scenario.
Adding two at-large bids serves as the perfect catch-all for other potentially deserving teams including, of course, independents.
Having a team or two too many some years is far better than having a team too few.

They would find a way to say Alabama is one of the best eight teams in the country. Fact. Entitled little bitches.
Never change, Rant. Never change.

Make the Conference Championship games an elimination match.
Take the next 6 highest ranked teams to play a Wildcard game.
Take the 3 Wildcard winner and seed them with the Conference Champs.
That way the Wildcard teams have to play that extra game.

Do you think the 61 bottom teams in March Madness don't deserve to play in it???
We don't need college players having 16 games. That's too many. And all because we want to see four blowouts.

I've always been for at least an 8-team playoff, but this shows it would be a waste this year.
It’s a waste every year. I have never seen a season where there are 8 teams that truly have a chance at beating the top 4

Get rid of the stupid conference title games then this makes more sense
Posted on 12/9/19 at 7:35 pm to El Campo Tiger
That's not a good illustration, the only time it matters is when a one loss team is sitting at 5-8 and they did not get a shot at conference championship, such as LSU, bama, or wisky, a really just any team with one loss but that oneloss being the undefeated team and normally the #1 team... Can't see any harm in that. All it would do is provide opportunity for a strong conference or conference division to really show how strong they are.
Or possibly get rid of conf championship game and have every team play everyone in the conference and have whole season be the playoff

frick. That.
If any expansion happens it needs to be 6 teams. The power 5 champs and one at large.
Even that’s too many damn teams

There is a lot more parity in college basketball than college football.

This season it would be a waste of time. Going forward, what if the top 5 teams were undefeated?
Posted on 12/9/19 at 7:47 pm to El Campo Tiger
I’m a fan of 8 or 16 team playoffs. Everyone loves March madness do the ones against expanding CFB playoffs think march madness should start at 16 teams?
