This foul padding obsession is tiresome

I was listening on Sirius radio this morning and they were saying the no review on the foul/fair ball was embarrassing. That's easy to say when you have seen nothing but super slow motion and stop action views.
The fact is that when it happened live I thought it was close but Duplantis stopped playing the ball, the base runners jogged back, the umpires called it foul without discussion and both dugouts were quiet and calm.
The TV guys said they thought it was fair but it wasn't until at least five minutes later that the TV crews put together the digitally zoomed in super slow motion shot that showed it was actually a fair ball.
Had the TV guys not done their thing, no one would have ever mentioned it except to say that it was close.
It wasn't an embarrassment when it happened. Actually the OSU coaches are just embarrassed they didn't see it or say anything.
Time to let it roll off our backs like raindrops off the waxy wings of a cockroach.

The OSU third base coach immediately told Casey, their head coach, that the ball was foul. Casey said in one interview that was why he didn't request a video review.
The responsibility for the no review decision is squarely on OSU.

if we win the whole thing, may be we can replace our foul pole with that one. Btw it actually hit the wall, but saying pole would make it sound like a HR. So let's just spin the news like today's media does

It's not embarrassing to LSU. We were the only ones completely blameless in all of that. The umps should be embarrassed for missing the call. OSU coaches should be embarrassed for not asking for a review. We didn't do anything to be embarrassed about.

it had no chance to hit the foul pole. Only chance it had was the padding because it sticks out many many inches.

If LSU fans don't stop posting about it on message boards it will never go away.

or, make every play reviewable, like football. When there's a close play, review it, particularly in a sport like baseball with little scoring, where a play like that can have a massive impact on a game.
But reviews need to be fast.

I changed the headline from "foul pole" to "foul padding." Either way, all this whining seems pretty foul to me.

OSU should have asked for a replay. That's on them. We didn't do anything wrong.

There was still the entire rest of that game to be played and 9 innings more on Sunday.
I hate to see a bad call affect the outcome like that but LSU handled their business and Oregon State didn't. They had plenty of opportunities to win after the blown call.

OP wann't trying to spin the news. That was annoying hearing them say on ESPN that it should have been a Homerun. It hit the wall you dumbasses. It probably would have been a double or a triple, but not a homerun.

It's time is winding down. I am not giving it another thought from here on out.

FIFY. Let it go already

Yet ESPN kept replaying it in slow motion like it was JFK's Zapruder film.

This, more than anything else, may have led it to being called a foul ball. It's also the reason you probably didn't see OSU's staff make it a huge deal (initially)
Whether intentional or not, Duplantis' reaction made it appear he was 100% sure the ball was foul. He was the closet person to it and I wouldn't be shocked that his reaction caused the ump to reach the same conclusion.

I mean it was, but it's 100% on Pat Casey for not requesting it... Even as an LSU fan I can admit it should have been reviewed and overturned...
Doesn't change the fact that Casey is dumb for not requesting it
