The SEC is just going to tie this up in court long enough to make it a moot point.
Imagine not going to a CFP championship game for the 4th year in a row at the same time forcing your teams to olay 9 games and a power 4 OOC and hanstringing your biggest brands.
The SEC is embarrassing itself.

There is also the possibility the judges may speed this process up because the athletes need to register for classes at most schools by the end of next week to be eligible this season.
The lawsuits have become bullshite, and always have been, but you cannot selectively enforce this and let Chambliss play. It's that simple. He is no different and in fact worse. He is using lies, completely debunked by Ferris State to get an extra year. It's even more egregious by a factor of 100 from what these guys are doing, and yet the SEC had no issue and didn't create an entire rule to ban him, did they?

The TRO specifically says the NCAA or any of its subordinates or affiliates are subject to the TRO.
Can you or anyone post a link to the actual TRO document? Or can someone get it and post it?

These players will either get to play or they will sue the NCAA for damages. The NCAA has already admitted to unequal treatment of these players' eligibility in this case.
They can sue the SEC and Big Ten for damages as well. This isn't limited to the NCAA anymore, and technically, they would not have a case against the NCAA as they are not the ones blocking it now, the conferences are.
I hope they do sue the crap out of the conferences and win. Not because I think pro athletes should come back. I am against that, but because I hate the bullshite these conferences have done to ruin college sports. Absolutely no ethics there whatsoever.

The SEC is trying to deny the relief ordered by a judge by making rules after the relief order was granted. I believe the SEC will be added to the suit and the defendants will have a damage claim against the SEC for going directly against a court order. I'm not sure who if giving the NCAA and SEC their legal advise but they need a new lawyer.
they will have to file a completely new lawsuit specifically against the SEC. go back to law school, you are clueless
as a huge LSU fan....LSU fans should shut the frick up and be happy the SEC stopped this embarrassment to the university.

I assure you the conferences trying to block this TRO will be added to the case. You are clueless.

I think the SEC is saying to LSU, we can’t stop you from letting them play. But we can stop your participation in our conference if you do so.
Which is probably the only way we actually get governance at this point. So take what you can get.
Unless injunction states the SEC cannot retaliate in any way etc.,

If this thing gets tied up and dragged on I'd argue it favors the players and not the league

yet multiple large law firms just said yesterday....exactly what i said.
and in the end who cares....because by the time any of this is settled, will be too late to enroll anyways
why you dumb fricks want this is beyond me

Listen to yourselves. frick man, these are PRO athletes.
Stop carrying water for this vlown show.
Not long ago, guys like you were fighting against paying players, warning where that could lead. Now we have players leaving the NFL and trying to come here? Its like the old guy in a college bar trying to hit on girls.
Its fricking iver. Move on. NO reason to deal with this anymore. We tried, it failed in a way that is bringing undue attention to LSU, in a negative light.
We had every bit of momentum. Great hire, lots of cash, great program, etc etc. Then we decide to get involved in legal tug of war, and offer spots to a pro, that other kids here are being told we dont gaf about them.
Its stupid and Kiff went over the line. He has shown his ever so present character issues that have plagued him everywhere. Same for Wade.
Nothing positive will come from this.
Always here spewing defiance against everything. An absolute cuck!

Well, there was already a rule in place. For an SEC player to be eligible to transfer to another SEC school, it can only be done in the Spring portal. So their eligibility was already contrary to SEC rules. And they were ineligible. The next thing you are going to say is they don't need to enroll in class or reach the minimum GPA because they judge said so. It is nonsense.

This is such a shite show of a distraction right before the season. I get taking the guys just in case they got to play. Better to have them than someone else have them but at this point they need to just let it die and get ready for Clemson.

Kinda like the Big-12 vs. Sorsby and Texas Tech...and as I recall, everyone was very much Team Big-12 in that matter.
I know there is a difference....Sorsby committed the mortal sin of gambling, while the LSU situation involves former pro players trying to become amateur again.
But the idea is exactly the same--the league has made a ruling for the greater good of everyone and if LSU (and other teams) would like to remain a member in good standing, it is in their best interest to abide by the SEC's rules.

That isn't the point. The point is the SEC has ruled on the matter, whether you agree with it or not, and it would not be in a member institution's best interest to defy that ruling.

quote:So how do the players get the relief they were granted to make them whole? If they are not eligible, they have no relief and the TRO is meaningless.
The TRO ONLY grants an extra fifth season of college eligibility and access to a special transfer portal window. It does not counter or supersede other eligibility rules.
These players, as a group, stand to make millions of dollars from the relief of this TRO. Do you think the players and lawyers are going to give up that money?
This is not over.

You are conflating two issues. The relief sought in the lawsuit was to have the 5 for 5 eligibility rule applied retroactively to the class of 2022. That was granted.
Just being in compliance with general NCAA eligibility rules does not mean conferences cannot have more restrictive rules on its VOLUNTARY member institutions. No different than a conference requiring a 3.0gpa to play--which is 1000% permissible.
If a member institution does not want to be subject to conference rules it can give up the money and go the Notre Dame route.
These players are NCAA eligible...they just need to go play for a conference with less restrictive rules.

It's over as far as ever playing a down of football in the SEC. Although extremely unlikely, the players may eventually get paid by LSU but football . . . . . no.
