re: LSU fan jumped in bathroom...Update: not jumped but was drugged?
Posted by SECmeister on 9/22/26 at 12:00 pm to Tiger fan999
There is absolutely no way someone could have gotten beaten up in a bathroom without pictures of the fight, the blood, the stretcher, etc. It just didn't happen except in the mind of some pot-stirrer upset with the loss.
Conversely, there are pictures all over the internet of the LSU fans getting in a fight with a security guard. That happened.

re: The Film Of Ole Miss DT Will Echoles Against LSU Is Tough To Watch

If they were coming until OM beat Georgia, it's a shame Kiffin didn't get to coach that game.
re: Apparently, Lane Kiffin can't just move to another Team and them be just as good as
Posted by SECmeister on 9/21/26 at 7:58 am to DatGuy6967
In the current NI/transfer era, each season and team no longer has the continuity that existed in the past. Kiffin's $50,000,000 roster tops the SEC with the possible exception of Texas.
What higher percentage of NIL spending compared to other SEC programs will be required for Kiffin to accomplish his goals?

re: How confident are you for Saturday vs TAMU
Posted by SECmeister on 9/20/26 at 10:45 pm to lsusieg25
Kiffin is 13 and 26 life-time against top 25 teams. That's 33.33 percent so looks like a one in three chance for a win.
re: I hope if Lane conspired with players to sue the NCAA or SEC…

Whatever the truth, it will all come out once discovery is granted and depositions are taken in the federal lawsuit.
re: Paaaaaaaaul! says Kiffen is gonna' back down and downplay it between now & this weekend
Posted by SECmeister on 9/3/26 at 8:37 pm to White Tiger
White Tiger, no doubt everyone has an opinion and like mine, it is 90% speculation.
The problem I see for LSU is that it likely cannot win the long game. When all 16 members of the Conference voted a week ago to formalize a long standing policy regarding athletes in the disputed classifications, the die was cast. The SEC is a voluntary organization and has an inherent right to make its own rules.
Assuming the athletes prevail in the state court action, which I anticipate will happen, the elephant in the room is the federal lawsuit filed today in Alabama. Discovery and depositions will be forthcoming in the future along with a tro staying the state court decision.
The penalties are simply too great to risk everything on a very tenuous argument in federal district court. I suspect if this matter continues on its current track in a year or two a lot of good folks in Louisiana will look back and say, what were we thinking.

Didn’t listen to Finebaum, but the SEC lawsuit filed today opens a whole new can of worms.
Specifically, Kiffin will now be required to give a deposition once discovery is granted. If LSU, or its head coach, are shown to have contacted these players while they were still in NFL camp and suggested they file a lawsuit seeking eligibility in state court in Louisiana, no less, whatever credibility is left is down the tubes.
If LSU drops this matter in the next day or two, my sense is, this will be the reason.

re: It's time for LSU leadership (Rousse and Verge) to speak

Rousse spoke when he joined in the unanimous 16 to 0 vote in favor of the rule.
re: SEC Suing LSU & Kiffin Directly For “Deliberately Recruiting Pro Athletes”
Posted by SECmeister on 9/3/26 at 12:58 pm to iPad
Apparently, the SEC believes Kiffin lied when he said he did not initiate contact with the players in question.
Looking at conduct detrimental to the well-being of the SEC and the NFL. What a freaking idiot if true.

This will be his fourth season to actually play (one redshirt and one medical redshirt).
re: To those who think this isn’t a concerted effort against LSU

Concerted. Yes, even President Rousse voted in favor of the SEC rule prohibiting former NFL and NBA/WNBA players.
Be very careful . . . . . .

OM AD Keith Carter would have to be an idiot to allow this kid to play without clearance from the SEC. Something tells me Carter is not an idiot.
re: TROs and Other Fun Legal Actions - The Ultimate Gamble for LSU
Posted by SECmeister on 8/28/26 at 1:38 pm to Jest a game
The gamble is definitely by LSU and this is why all of the players in question will never be placed on any LSU roster until final adjudication.
READ the SEC penalties starting with 50% of the sport’s operating budget. For football, that amounts to tens of millions of dollars the conference won’t have to try to collect. They will simply withhold it from LSU’s share of revenues for the season.
I see no way any state or federal appellate court, not some forum shopped local judge, will issue a final order in this matter until months from now. No one in their right mind is going to take a chance when tens of millions are at stake.

re: Even Guilbeau is arguing against Sankey?
Posted by SECmeister on 8/27/26 at 8:24 pm to TBoy@LSU
What choice Sankey have? He works directly for the 16 schools thst make up the conference. All 16 of those schools voted not to allow the named classification of professional players to return to college athletics. Sankey hss no choice, but to enforce the mandate of the conference. Failure to do so would probably get him fired.
re: What’s the backstory on why the 2 Ole Miss players didn’t get an extra year to begin with?
Posted by SECmeister on 8/27/26 at 10:39 am to The Eric
Chambliss and Johnson, and many others, are in completely different factual situations than the disputed professional class cases. Most people realize this but some are just to obtuse to see it.
Chambliss’ case involved his attempt to play a fourth year of college football. Because the NCAA did not present any evidence in the hearing to refute his documentation of medical issues during one year at Ferris State, the Judge granted Chambliss’ request to play a fourth year of college football. Clear precedent, including by the NCAA in many cases, and thus nothing unusual about the case.
My preference would be to allow all class of 2022 members to be grandfathered into the 5 for 5 rule regardless of circumstances. However, the league voted not to do so and that will be that. Any judicial modification will likely come well after the season ends.

re: So it was okay for Saban and Oates to do it at Bama but not ok for LSU?
Posted by SECmeister on 8/26/26 at 11:59 am to LivingstonLaw
Oates tried but failed. Saban never tried. The SEC has been consistent and has never allowed a player in the named categories to return.
Wright would have been the first and that is not happening. Any continued claptrap about this topic by the coaches or fans does nothing but disrupt the pending season.

It's over as far as ever playing a down of football in the SEC. Although extremely unlikely, the players may eventually get paid by LSU but football . . . . . no.
re: LSU MBB 65 vs. Ole Miss 77 - Final - Tigers Fall to 0-3 in SEC
Posted by SECmeister on 1/11/25 at 9:55 pm to mcmaniacinsaneasylum
Much better OM team this year than last year. Beard went out and brought in three new starters from the portal. I don’t believe they are super talented as a whole but a blind msn can see they are very well coached and hustle their tails off.
A 9-9 conference record will get any and all SEC teams into the dance. That means all Ole Miss has to do from this point (3-0) is finish the conference schedule at 6-9. They are sitting in excellent shape to make the dance in Beard’s second year.

re: Pitcher DeLucia for Ole Miss
Posted by SECmeister on 6/24/22 at 12:20 pm to SpillwayRoyalty
Bianco has done a good job in developing several pitchers on this staff. Mallitz (sp?) was ineffective last year but developed a slider that is dynamite. DeLucia started out in the bullpen tbis season but has progressed to #1 starter throughout the season. Also, few catchers are better than Dunhurst at framing pitches and stealing a few strikes throughout a game.
