The SEC thinks they can deny the relief granted by a judge.

The TRO specifically says the NCAA or any of its subordinates or affiliates are subject to the TRO. The SEC is an affiliate conference in the NCAA.

The SEC is trying to deny the relief ordered by a judge by making rules after the relief order was granted. I believe the SEC will be added to the suit and the defendants will have a damage claim against the SEC for going directly against a court order. I'm not sure who if giving the NCAA and SEC their legal advise but they need a new lawyer.

I think the SEC is saying to LSU, we can’t stop you from letting them play. But we can stop your participation in our conference if you do so.

Which is probably the only way we actually get governance at this point. So take what you can get.

The SEC, and big 10 for that matter, are about to get destroyed. And it will be coming from the players lawyers, so we'll have cover.

The lawyers will say by threatening schools that play these guys, its the same as directly threatening the players.... which is what the TRO is explicitly about.. protecting the players and provided relief to their harm

The SEC thinks they can make rules and govern their organization. There is no relief that can be granted to someone who is ineligible.

Not in direct defiance of a court order.

Almost the entire nation is cheering this on including any lsu fan with a brain….

I have no issue with lane signing the players before the SEC stepped in. But this is absolutely a good rule and am glad they are doing it

2 things can be true at once

1. Players that choose to declare, sign with a team and begin their "professional" career should absolutely be barred from coming back.

2. This 2022 4 for 4 cohort did not choose to go pro. They were told they were out of eligibility then the NCAA changed the rules after the fact and gave everyone else 5 to play 5.

They got absolutely hosed and should be given then chance for that 5th year (as long as Jayden approves I guess)

Listen to yourselves. frick man, these are PRO athletes.
Stop carrying water for this vlown show.
Not long ago, guys like you were fighting against paying players, warning where that could lead. Now we have players leaving the NFL and trying to come here? Its like the old guy in a college bar trying to hit on girls.
Its fricking iver. Move on. NO reason to deal with this anymore. We tried, it failed in a way that is bringing undue attention to LSU, in a negative light.
We had every bit of momentum. Great hire, lots of cash, great program, etc etc. Then we decide to get involved in legal tug of war, and offer spots to a pro, that other kids here are being told we dont gaf about them.
Its stupid and Kiff went over the line. He has shown his ever so present character issues that have plagued him everywhere. Same for Wade.
Nothing positive will come from this.

I don't know that it is in direct defiance of a court order

And...the schools know that at some point, the conference WILL be able to come down on them

Its not worth it over 2-3 players that aren't stars

It is a one off situation and not some continuing thing in the future.

Have a day

News flash, we have a $45m+ roster. Everyone suiting up in purple and gold are PRO athletes. Enough with the sanctimonious pearl clutching.

The TRO ONLY grants an extra fifth season of college eligibility and access to a special transfer portal window. It does not counter or supersede other eligibility rules. The SEC and Big TEN have neutralized the effect of the TRO.
