The NFL just said the problem with Perkins was not that he was playing out of position

For those that kept harping on it every week

He isn't a good enough football player.

so what was it then
There is no position on an NFL defense that makes sense for his limited skillset
His only avenue to an NFL roster is through special teams, which isn’t a promising possibility for a guy with ethic issues

He should have been a running back.

He's a good college player but thats it. Fans placed unreasonable expectations on him because he played over his head a few times before other teams knew what he was. Then fans get upset that he wasn't a generational talent.

he was a pretty fricking good college player

He doesn’t have a position. He has a single valuable skillset, rushing the passer, but the size differences in the NFL means he couldn’t do it on a consistent basis and directly lined up against NFL tackles. He lacks coverage skillsets for pro or college. He can tackle the ball carrier in college enough, but he’s a poor quality tackler and his size will be a huge detriment at the next level. And he’s completely capped out on size, he can’t grow anymore on his small frame
I think he could be an in the box strong safety in NFL. But team scheme fits would be really low, most teams are playing both safeties high right now and in coverage majority of the time. It’s not in demand

Who from the NFL said that?
Posted on 4/25/26 at 3:47 pm to Tigerpride18
Was he though? What was he pretty fricking good at?
Posted on 4/25/26 at 3:47 pm to Tigerpride18
quote:not really. He had a handful of amazing plays. The majority of his snaps he looked terrible. He was regularly taken advantage of and attacked by other offenses. Y'all just remember the 10 good plays he had and forget the hundreds of bad ones.
he was a pretty fricking good college player
Two different coaching staffs gave him every opportunity at multiple positions to prove he was a good college player. And he couldn't do it consistently.

All 32 NFL teams that have all passed on him 6 times. If he was some stud that was just playing the wrong position he would have been long gone.

Our fans do that with a lot of players then convince themselves the players need to be vilified for not living up to the expectations others set for them

Very informative, thanks for providing the real reason....

Well, the draft isn’t over and there have been plenty studs who haven’t been picked yet.

Kyle Louis was the only LB his size but he can cover some. Harold is a fun part time pass rusher in college but can't do that in the NFL.

He's a tweener that has no real position.
As others have said, he had a couple of good games as a true freshman that got the hype train rolling and fans could never understand why he didn't return to that once opposing teams started scheming around him.
A lot of this has to do with his rankings as a recruit, if he was some random Mississippi three star, the hype would've died out long ago.

I'm sure he'd make a fine Popeyes manager. I'd be a customer

Maybe you should provide the real reason then, jackass. What a cliffhanger post
I’m kind of hoping he goes undrafted and signs with the Saints as an UDFA. Maybe he can become a special teams ace or something for the Saints for cheap.
