I think the 5 for 5 rule came about because of so many cases like Chambliss

The pkayers were undrafted, right? So they CHOSE to join a team as an UFA.
I think that matters, as they were not forced into the NFL. They could have stayed in school to earn degree, if not completed

So if a class of 2023 gets a medical redshirt year 1, they are on the 5-5 and they are done after next year? They don''t get an extra year for the medical redshirt under the old rules?
