Oh so you can post negative stuff about Brian Kelly but I can’t? Got it.

What in his contract does it say about keeping LSU in contention or amount of wins?

I started a post this past week asking if anyone secretly hopes we lose our last 3 so that Kelly gets fired sooner. I got a private message saying something like “you’ve been warned for the last time”. I assume bc I was being negative about Kelly. Not sure why I’m singled out for hating on Kelly. Majority of this board is calling for his firing tonight.

All he keeps saying is the players have to play up to LSU standards. What are his standards?

He’s done a good job keeping other coaches employed (USC, Bama, UF). Maybe there’s a payback scheme in there somewhere…

I don’t see any way Kelly gets fired this season but the pressure next year is at a fricking 10

In 08 Les didn’t lose three games in a row, but from October on, he was 3-5 with wins against Troy, Tulane, and South Carolina.

It was a shite sandwich of a season.

We should have said no when he wanted $100 million for 10 years.

I used to draw house plans on the side. I did shite like this all the time with clients I didn’t want to do work for or were too busy for: throw an outrageous number out there, hoping it would scare them off. It’s a polite, professional way of telling them to frick off without actually telling them to frick off. Encourage them to look elsewhere. If there was a rare case where they accepted my offer, well then it was at least worth my while.

I think this is what Kelly did. He probably didn’t want to come here. Lord knows, he acts like he’d rather be elsewhere. And he’s GOT to know his overall body of work doesn’t rate $10 million a year.

Woodwards contract negotation skills put us in a really bad spot. Can’t be said enough

I’m convinced 90% of the fanbase doesn’t understand the concept of supply and demand. In 2021 there were very few coaches who had multiple CFP appearances on their resume: Saban, Smart, Dabo, Riley, Kelly, Urban Meyer.

The fanbase DEMANDED a “big” hire. Anything less than that was unacceptable. That meant guys who fit the acceptable “big” hire category had ALL of the negotiating leverage. They were getting a big contract. It was just a matter of which school was going to pay it. Kelly was 11-1 in 2021 with an outside shot to make the CFP for a second straight season. He didn’t have to leave ND for anything less than a massive contract. There were little “negotiations”. All he had to say to LSU was either accept my terms or go find someone else.

BK's best year at LSU, was his 1st, when he had a roster made up of the leftovers from O's staff and transfers. It appears that when he starts to rely on guys he has recruited, the talent is either not there, or he and the assts fail to develop them. I think the decision is going to be largely dependent on whether they believe that BK can still deliver the commitments on signing day. If they think he's unlikely to hold them, then they will find the 60m. A lot of the big $ guys behind LSU are looking at huge $ being made in O&G in the incoming admin and they will probably be willing to underwrite the buy-out.

Kelly just needs another year or two to get things rolling.

Hopefully BK does not drop 5 in a row.

Hell, don’t be surprised if we drop 6 in a row. You think these players are going to be motivated to show up for the Depends Carquest Shreveport Independence Bowl? The only hope is to have a bunch of opt outs to force kids to play for playing time next year.

We should all be surprised if that happens.

If the players we have are satisfied with losses then we need to quit recruiting those types of players. The only guys who won't show up trying to win are the guys making business decisions about the NFL. They won't even play.
