The excuses from last year's LSU/FSU game

"LSU was playing its first game under a new staff"
And yet, somehow, LSU had no offensive turnovers and committed just 4 penalties all game. So they couldn't have been THAT rusty.
"We muffed two punts. That was the difference in the game."
How so? Neither muff led to any FSU points. In fact one of them led to an FSU turnover of their own, at the LSU goal line no less. Why is this never brought up? These things work both ways.
"LSU 'shoulda won' the game"
Sorry but this is just wrong. The reality is, LSU never lead at any point in the game after FSU took the lead early in the second quarter. Meanwhile, FSU had two separate 14 point leads and it would've been three had FSU not fumbled on the LSU goal line. In fact after the first quarter LSU never ran a single play where they could've taken the lead. But yet, somehow, they 'shoulda won'?
"LSU was the better team"
This part is the funniest to me. With 9 minutes left to go in the game, FSU had out-gained LSU 365-174. That is not a typo. LSU was steamrolled. They couldn't run the ball except for plays breaking down and Jayden Daniels scrambling. Outside of Daniels' scrambling, LSU rushed for a grand total of 25 yards on 14 carries. 99 of their total yards came in the final minute when FSU had gone completely prevent.
The analysis/excuses about last year's game and the predictions for this year's game are honestly laughable. Assuming there are no injuries to Jordan Travis, FSU is the better team and has the better roster. They have the most returning production in the nation. Literally #1, look it up. The most returning production, and from a team that finished top 15 in both total offense and total defense. (The only others to do that were Alabama, Ohio State, and Georgia).
They've also won five straight vs LSU. And they're playing in a stadium where FSU has never lost.

LSU played sloppy, and unprepared. I have no doubt that the coaching staff will have them ready, this time around.

Not sure anyone made excuses. We played horrible. Botched 3 snaps, and the spear head of the worst special teams in college football showed its ugly teet that day (2 punt fumbles, blocked fg and extra pt). They deserved to win the game, we were lucky to come back and make it that close, since we didn't execut time and time again all game (boutte dropped td pass, boutte pouting on in route at goal line). We played like sh*t

LSU played horribly and lost the game on a blocked extra point attempt. That’s not making excuses, that’s recognizing the reality of the situation.

I agree with this analysis. The conclusion remains the same, however.
At their peak last year, LSU was a better team. What LSU fans should focus on is that game featured 2/5 starting offensive linemen who did not receive a meaningful snap the rest of the year, and a starting center that was later moved to guard. It was the first game with a new QB, OC, and wideouts who improved dramatically throughout the year once they gelled.
On defense, the starting MLB did not play a meaningful snap the rest of the year. His run fits were terrible that game. Harold Perkins, who became the biggest game wrecker in college football by the end of the season did not play a single defensive snap.
Looking at this year, LSU is a much improved team sans the cornerback position perhaps. FSU is similarly improved. Play ball is all we can both say at this point

What most people were saying was, "Look how shitty LSU played and still almost beat FSU". That's not a compliment to your team incase you couldn't tell.

Ok . See you after the game .

Hey Trev
I am glad that FSU is getting all the hype to make the playoff. Going to make this even sweeter to start the year.

Have you sent your FSU alumni dues this year?

You do realize how bad this makes yall look that we took an entire half off and you still needed us to muff punts and miss extra points for you to squeak out a 1 point win, right?

I'm not making or have ever made any excuses about losing that game. We lost and did not look good for much of the beginning of last year. That's to be expected with a new coaching staff, new QB, new kicker, etc. Players having not played together take time to jell. Over the course of the season we got better because the players and coaches learned each other's tendencies, capabilities, and became comfortable with each other.
Not an excuse but just a fact.
Being conservative and disciplined is great but doesn't always result in playing well.
Just because FSU didn't score doesn't change the fact that we lost two possessions and field position.
That's not an excuse? I don't think we should have won the game, but we had a chance to tie with an extra point. If the game goes to OT, anything can happen.
Also not an excuse and not sure who said this. Most LSU fans knew there would be some growing pains at the beginning of the season with so many new faces and systems. I think a lot of folks underestimated FSU. The combination of those two things did not result in what most expect from LSU football. I'm expecting a much better game this year.
There's always a first for everything

We played terrible and were an XP away from going to overtime...and yall were too scared to play us first and scheduled a warm up game before us.

If we had beat them last year, it wouldn’t have been our best win by far
meanwhile the fact that they beat us by 1 point is the highlight of their 2022 season
