I have seen alot of great bands and I am obviously bias toward the Golden Band from tiger land! I feel that the Pre-game and Touchdown song and routine is the best way to kick off a football game in the world! This is how I would rank the bands that I have seen.
#1 LSU
#2 Texas A&M their band is amazing, it is military and so, so cool.
#3 USC - awesome and unique
#4 Ohio State - really cool
#5 Nebraska - I thought they were really good good when I saw them in the Sugar bowls.
#6 Stanford - say no more
#7 Oklahoma - great Band
#8 Ole Piss
#9 Florida
#10 Bama

The top 6 are in my opinion the best. Who did I leave off?

Big 10 Bands are better than everyone else. I was impressed with Iowa when we played them in back in 2004 capital one bowl, same with Wisconsin. OSU is probably the best. They make LSU's band look boring.

I will never give Texas A&M any recognition. They are weird and queer.

The Tennessee band, in person, is a really good experience, very precise and excellent. Should be top 10.

Florida State, Texas and North Texas have the best band programs in the south. People don’t see UNT on TV, but that is one of the biggest music schools in the US.

Several of the midwestern schools do have really strong programs. Indiana, OSU and Michigan are probably the strongest, at least overall.

LSU once rated as a top 5 schools of music and band programs in the south. However, I don’t think that’s still the case today. The marching band still holds its own and is still very good, but the decline of the SOM hasn’t helped.

LSU’s band is like Notre Dame football. Once the best and now living off past reputation.

Purdue is pretty good too. I hired one of their current assistant directors at my high school when he was young and on his way up the ladder.

As a member of the oldest university band in existence, I must advocate for the Notre Dame Band
