Best CB or best CB career? There is a distinction there, and it's important because Stingley has only played one year so he obviously isn't up there when it comes to career. But I would take him over any other CB we've had at LSU with the exception of maybe Peterson and Claiborne.
I'm not considering TM7 here because even though he played CB, I consider him more of an all-purpose type defender. He does so much more than a typical corner, I am just judging them by coverage.

Webster was a dominant force. He was the best cb in the nation in 03. Hard to believe he is 38 years old already.

while I agree with this, he actually didn't make that many first team AA lists that year. Derrick Strait (who won the Thorpe) and Keiwan Ratliff (who was a big reason we lost to UF) got more love.

I know a lot of us have recency bias but Casanova is almost a shoe in right? I get it was a "different game" but a three time First Team AA three years running is tough to beat resume wise.

U forgot Craig Burns!

Neither were as good as Webster though. LSU wasn't considered a power that season until we won the natty. Oklahoma and Florida had more brand power. Straight was drafted in the third round. Ratliff was drafted in the second round as was Webster.

Tre'Davious White is in the conversation. He was an island for 4 years.

I think if you had to pick two, it really doesn't matter which two you pick out of Webster, Peterson, Claiborne, White, and Stingley.
I would pick Webster and Peterson, and if Stingley continues along the path he's on, he will be the clear cut #1 selection.

FIFY
I do remember him making an incredible interception going up and over the receivers back and somehow coming down with the pic. 2000 bama maybe. I swear to God though, any other play he was beat. I'll never understand how he managed to play so much. Poor old Danny McCray at safety too. And McCray still played about 5 years in the league.
