Casanova is the goat of a different era.
Peterson and then any one of
Webster,
Claiborne, and you've got to go
T.White in there as well.

Patrick Peterson and Tyrann Mathieu stand head and shoulders above a great group. Stingley probably joins those two after this year. In spite of what most LSU fans seem to think, Stingley was not at that level last year.
Tre White is my pick for the best of the rest, although everyone you listed, plus Greedy, Jimmy Britt, Gino Daniels, Fulton and Travis Daniels, were all great ones.

Best: PP7 & Corey Webster
Corey Webster and Mo Claiborne are the most overrated corners in LSU history. Webster was among the best when at his best, but he personally, and solely, lost two games for LSU - Arkansas and Iowa - and that is heavy freight for the best ever. How many games did Tre White lose for us? ZERO!
Claiborne was overrated by the media, and the Cowboys foolishly bought into it. He should have been a late first round choice, which is still great, but it's not Peterson or Mathieu level.

Casanova is almost a shoe in right?
He would start for LSU no matter what year he played, although today he would be a safety.

Stingley may become the best of the bunch, but he had it taken to him in the Bama game by Smith and it wasn’t just that one play he looked away. No way should he be mentioned on this list after that one game.

Why limit it to 2?
We are DBU!!!!
Our best CBs should be ranked:
1A
1B
1C
1D
1E
in no particular order

I've seen you post this before. how did Webster "solely" lose either of those games? he wasn't covering the WR who caught the game winner in either game.
(and yes I know, he gave up the big pass vs Arky the play before)

A lot of greats are missing. Tredavious White could be the best corner out of all of these. Definitely better than his cousin Morris Claiborne, honestly
Also, Tyrann Mathieu played some corner and did it pretty well in addition to his various other roles in the secondary.

I disagree. Stingley graded out as one of the best CB, if not the best, by PFF (can’t remember).
He will get unfairly knocked for the Bama game. He had a bad game there, no doubt. Some people bring up Florida but he had one poor drive and he sealed the game with a pick so if that’s his second worst game, then damn.
And now I’m out of bad things to say about him or bad games/times he got beat. That’s pretty remarkable considering we played 7 top 10 teams. Not to mention, our defense had it tougher than defenders of previous LSU teams because our offense was so good it forced the other team to be aggressive from the start and often times have to play catch up. Teams couldnt play it safe against us - they had to take shots, go for it on 4th, etc. which obviously will lead to more plays given up by the defense. Most of the other great CB’s played teams that could be conservative and play a game of wait to see who makes the first mistake.
Despite the talent Stingley faced and the aggressive offensive philosophies, he still didn’t give up much of anything outside of Bama.

In the NFL, absolutely. But strictly off their times at LSU, Mo was clearly the better CB. Not a knock on Tre, but Mo was just another level that I think only Stingley and Peterson were on as far as cover corners.
Mo gets slept on a bit I think because he has been a bust in the NFL, but he was as lockdown as it gets here at LSU

I'd take TM7 over anyone straight up. I don't understand this "he wasn't a true CB" thing. He's not only the best CB in LSU history he's arguably the best defensive player in LSU history and certainly a top 5 player overall in LSU history.

Being as versatile as Honey Badger was makes him a top 5 defensive player of all time much like Casanova. Specific skill set to CB he’s not on White, Claiborne, Webster or Peterson’s level. Doesn’t mean he wasn’t a damn good corner it just means he’s one of the greatest safety’s to ever play the game.

Stingley got beat/schooled all game long by Devonta Smith.

Not counting Stingley yet.
Best talent-Peterson
Best 1 year as a pure corner-Claiborne
Best career-Peterson but the returns help with that.
I've never been high on Peterson's cover skills while at LSU. He was a specimen and nasty tackler but I believe his cover skills were overrated here. His return skills are what made him special at LSU.
