He covered a bunch yesterday and didn’t give up a catch or was even targeted. On the flip side Penn gave up multiple big plays. Nobody’s comparing Perkins to perfection but compared to our other LBs outside of Baskerville there’s no drop off in coverage plus you get much more playmaking in other areas.

THIS! It should not be either/or with Perk and Oj. Figure it out coaches.

That, quite obviously, means as much of 40 and 11 as possible.

Except, that’s not what happened in this game, as the OP pointed out.

Why do you think they moved Perkins inside? Clearly, they are trying to get both on the field at the same time. They feel he isn’t ready, but all the experts on this board seem to think they know better based on his play at a different position.

Perkins and BJ mainly inter changed, but they were on the field together for two 3rd & longs and basically the whole last series

Gaye and Perkins were out there at the same time most of the plays yesterday. You don’t have to sit one to play the other.

Against MSU, Perkins played mainly Mike and just green dog’d

I can see this vs Bama outside of 1st downs because Perkins would be matched up with Gibbs out the backfield, or blitzes if he stays in to block

Bama’s biggest threats offensively is Gibbs and Young’s ability to extend plays with his pocket mobility

You got two weeks to get Perk prepared, and Baskerville can make the calls for the defense

Of course he was on the field in the second half, Ole Miss was obviously throwing the ball to catch up. Passing down but the coaches on here don’t see that.

Perkins came in for parts of the final 2 drives of the first half stopping the 2nd with a sack. Ole Miss had the lead into the 3rd quarter until the 8:25 mark and didn’t fall behind 2 scores until the 4th quarter. Ole Miss threw 18 passes in the first half, 16 in the second half.

I'm so tired of seeing this shite. Do y'all really think he wouldn't be out there all the time if the coaches had faith he could do it? Using him as a Sam on third downs is similar to what aranda did with White his freshmen year. Just give it time.
I guess this. But I think yesterday proves the coaches are outthinking themselves rehardimg Perkins. Just put him out there and let him go

Ole Miss was wining at half time

LSU got the ball to start the half, went 3 & out

Perkins was in the game immediately and ole miss was still wining 20-17 lol

that has more to do with House’s half time adjustments and you should know that. We were doing the same shite before Perkins started playing a lot

Yeah well this shite isn’t any better. We are a better team when he is out there. We are giving up early scores without him and playing from behind. Devin White wanted to play RB and could have been further along if he didn’t start there. The opposing coach said the game changed when he came in.

He needs to be on the field and it’s the coaches job to figure out how to get the best players out there. Who exactly do they have faith in over him?

No, not at all. Kiffen didn’t say anything like that. He was complimentary to #40, yes. But if you actually followed the press conference, he talked about the end zone interception, penalties and poor tackling as the isssues. Just sayin’

Did LSU change anything schematically after the first quarter?

They played No. 40 (linebacker Harold Perkins) more, which we eventually thought they would do because he doesn't look like anybody else out there.

Again I respectfully disagree, my point was if you have an exceptional player you make a spot for him. With Stingly they just said man your guy up and then ran the base defense some zone but mostly man with everyone else and it worked out. I'm just saying put Perkins out there and say make Bryce young your bitch, and make plays. No coverages, no real responsibilities ect and I think that would be far more successful then sitting him on the bench 2 out of 3 plays. Because the fact of the matter is in college big time play makers can completely change the course of a game and it is far more important to just have them out there then to have some complicated scheme with inferior players.

Kiffin has tunnel vision. Half time adjustments and the resulting defensive scheme had a lot to do with 40’s performance.
