I know it's not a new take but given the situation I wish they would just do away with permanent opponents altogether at this point.

Saban hates the 3 game permanent opponent, right now is bitch speculating cause one scenario has his perm opponents as:
LSU
Auburn
Tennessee
He said we as in Bama get to play the strongest 3 game SEC permanent opponent schedule
LSU - always a BIG draw TV$$ and outcome lately 2 best of WEST teams
Auburn- oldest rivalry and best resume of SECW besides Them & LSU
Tennessee- he scared of them because they’ve become 1 of 2 top teams of the EAST and getting better.
This scenario was based off the last decade so he thinks the unfairness comes from having to play LSU most successful and top team of WEST
Auburn just rival and points out, they’re the most successful outside of LSU/Bama
Tennessee- based on last decade are not successful but he definitely knows the last couple campaigns have changed their trajectory
He said and I quote, “it’s not fair that we have to play the 3 best teams in the SEC excluding Georgia.”
In layman’s terms
CBK has already kicked arse in 1st SEC game
Auburn- has Freeze whom wore me out twice at Ole Miss, and won’t take long to build at AU
Tennessee- CJH wore me out this year and won’t be the pushover we’ve enjoyed beating 16 times in a row as permanent of the past.
Say what you may, “But if you scared Say you scared!”

Tenn/Bama will never be broken up. It is almost as important as Auburn/Bama.

What Bama wants is Miss State as their third rival, thus removing LSU.

And I can't blame them.

Yeah. I just am already annoyed by it, no group of permanent opponents is going to be "fair" and no matter what happens every team is going to be giving up playing teams yearly that they had history with. Do away with it and no team will go more than 2 years without playing each other.

I see nothing online about this.

It's being discussed live on the radio, and the guy is saying "not official, but excellent reputable source".

I could see it. Kinda surprised we would get Alabama, I thought it would be Florida instead. But just about everyone saw Ole Miss and A&M coming a mile away.

this is getting up there in hatred with the fanbase.

I can't stand these motherfrickers.

I will miss playing Florida every year big time tho.

By “be more balanced” Saban means he thinks they should have Mizzou and Vandy

Not sure why there needs to be any permanent opponents.

Every team will play each other eventually. Why not simply have every team cycle through every opponent without permanent opponents to keep it equal?

A&M's AD said earlier this week that the SEC is leaning toward an 8 game schedule with one permanent opponent, curious who has better sources A&M's AD or a beat writer.

Tend to agree. They try to overthink it. Just keep rotating without perm opponents and a 4 year player would play every team and stadium during his career.
