My theory - Bama has one kid from Ohio. Bama’s Friday night starter was a late scratch. Player relays insider information to fade Bama to friends and family in Ohio who then make suspicious max bets.

Well we were up only 1-0 in the 3rd Friday, but had Skenes pitching. Crews came up with an open base. They decided to pitch to him and he hits a 3-run homer. So Bama obviously knew they were throwing the game when they pitched to Crews in that situation, since we had Skenes pitching.

That's it. The Youngstown Mafia was involved.

They need to send a few guys to Tuscaloosa and break Saban's legs.

I’ll admit, it prolly was not fair that we were successful in our comebacks on Saturday and Sunday but Bama wasn’t on Friday. And Bohanon getting himself tossed over a pop up behind the plate…..come on man.

I don't think he reported that it was Bama. I think it was just questionable activity.

Ohio gambling regulators on Monday instructed the state's licensed sportsbooks to halt betting on college baseball games involving Alabama after suspicious wagering activity was detected on the Crimson Tide's game against top-ranked LSU on Friday.

This definitely makes it seem as if Bama was called out.

What could go wrong, millions of dollars bet on college sports.
Nobody can tell the strike zone anymore.

Having sports books in nearly every state will eventually cause a huge scandal with sports. There is a reason it was shut down so tight for decades and I don't see extra controls in place.

The only thing i can think of is that right before the friday night game Alabama said there starter was injured and one of the sport books in Ohio didnt see the switch and the LSU line stayed really low at -245 Ml and everyone and there momma hammered the bet which raised flags. That is all i can think of. No tampering or anything like that or the investigation would be everywhere.

From Nola.com

quote:

"There were a couple of bets made in Cincinnati, Ohio," Johns said. "One was on a parlay which involved the LSU-Alabama game, and then there was another straight-up (money line) bet, I was told it was a large bet that involved LSU-Alabama."

quote:

ESPN reported the suspicious activity took place at the BetMGM sportsbook located at Great American Ball Park, the Cincinnati Reds' home field. Notably, Johns said both bets were on LSU to win the game.

"That in itself indicates that there's definitely no suspicious activity on the part of LSU. You don't typically suspect the team that was picked to win the game. The problem would have been whether someone on the Alabama side was suspicious of activity."

That would be something... if some Bama player gave info to his family back home who then made a big bet against Bama.

You're right, there were never gambling scandals in places like Toledo and Hawaii and Boston before this.

Word got out that the Friday starter woke up with back soreness. Boosters must have heard before Vegas and bet the house on LSU with Skenes.

Blows my mind that they didnt have limits set on college baseball games, a sport they cleary dont line correctly quite a bit. Id guess other states do limit it to reasonable amounts. It would solve their issues

What are MGM, DK, FD,etc..NCAA Baseball limits in 2023? A nickel, dime? 2 dimes? Historically, it has always been low limits wagering.

When LSU was stomping holes in the 1990s, my father and I had to run all around LV to get down on LSU in the CWS at a nickel or dime per pop..just to have a few K down. That, and 5 Dimes, Greek, Tiny/Ice Cream, Swamper,etc..

I gotta guess this is much more about who walked up to the kiosk in GAB to wager..than about how much?

In the past, until Regional play and CWS, only 5 Dimes and Spiro the Greek even put up some NCAAB, and usually 500 to 1,000/2,000 depending on the handle.

Locals like Tiny/Mugsy would do what he felt like taking action to.

A syndicate probably got an in and it snowballed from there.

Syndicates and Sharps largely don't focus on low limit markets..though some do on NFL Draft, Olympics,CWS,etc..

Johnny Venezia with a few hundred dollars bet, a midnight VSIN appearance on Greg Peterson, and a Tweet, can and did cut Campbell's future odds in half.
