What I think is that if he was as good at safety as his ranking in HS said, he wouldn’t be a WR right now.

Where did he play in the most recent LSU football game?

I’ll hang up and listen.

My sources tell me that Justin McMillain has thrown his helmet in the ring for the competition at center.

Agreed. I don't get the outcry over stuff like this in the spring

You do realize you are on the Rant right?

The idiots here don't give a frick what position JaCoby Stevens plays. It is just an opportunity to bash the LSU head coach and they are taking full advantage.

It's funny that the latest tweet and all of the posts by normal people make the idiots appear to be the big morons they really are.

I just hope the melt continues !!!

Wasn't this guy the top S IN THE COUNTRY?

No, he wasn’t. He was the top rated safety by some recruiting services. I know it sounds the same, but there’s a big difference.

I'm probably just not remembering very well, but when was the last time something significant happened in the spring besides an injury or suspension. Something that impacted the season.

LSU is supposedly stacked at WR and has a severe shortage of DB's.

LSU is loaded at safety and is short at corner. This guy can’t help us at corner in your wildest dreams.

Wut

there are no 220 lb cornerbacks unless you're an athletic freak like Patrick Peterson was

Stevens is in the 220 range and recent article mentioned LB was more likely than safety

Aranda and Cory Raymond let this jewel of a DB go play offense? I mean he was a five star so he must be one of the best safeties on the team. Wonder why they let him try his hand at WR?

God this place has gotten so much worse!! People really need to start being kicked off of here for starting shite purposely for their own amusement.

And for the people that bit on this are even more dumb than the OP which is a great accomplishment, congrats!

LSU needs CBs not safeties. Stevens isn't likely to get much playing time at safety either

Regardless, he'd be one injury away from starting at Safety.
He should be getting reps there instead of just another receiver IMO of course.. and many who have seen him play always said he projected best at Safety.

But hey it's whatever. The coaches are paid to make these decisions. I just prefer they leave him on defense. I don't see him breaking out on offense, but hey maybe I can be wrong. There's so many big and talented receivers on this team that need all the experience they can get as is.

been clear from the beginning that Stevens has free choice of which position he plays.

the fact that you think this would look better for O lets me know your level of football knowledge.

But the wide receivers who we moved to corner can?

Yup. I feel like they are twisting last season.

I think he was okay with playing receiver last season when they approached the idea because it meant he gets to see the field. It could also be this way again.. but at some point the coach has to be able to utilize the talent and make the decisions. Even if he is behind on depth at Safety, I don't see him making much difference at WR and therefore wasting more time and experience he could be getting at safety.. Even if behind on the depth there.. Maybe he's so good they feel they can just plug him in there as a Junior? Maybe he breaks out as a WR, but I don't see it, and it's not a knock on him.

Secondly O ISNT MOVING THIS KID. Stevens has been able to choose his position from the beginning. HE CHOOSES WHAT POSITION HE PLAYS.

if this is true, the program is in worse shape than we thought.

Via Shea Dixon:

There's been some questions about what the future holds for former five-star athlete JaCoby Stevens. He had transitioned from safety to wide receiver last season to help with depth concerns, then he moved back to safety while playing a role on special teams for the Tigers, then seeing action at defensive back in the bowl game. While listed on the roster as a wide receiver, Stevens was with the safeties at practice on Tuesday. Delpit and John Battle are the frontrunners for the starting job, but the Tigers have some nice depth at the position to play with, which includes Stevens, Paris, Eric Monroe, Todd Harris and Cameron Lewis.

I'm glad you reported this. It is is refreshing to read something by a famous couch like you that has been to all the practices and team meetings and sits in on the coaches' meetings. Most of us never get that close to things.
