I saw it...so I know they did

Les just really wanted Harris to be the guy.

There are rumors that Etling was actually hurt in practice before the Wisconsin game; maybe they did think he was better, but couldn't play him week 1?

It's also possible that Harris is much better in practice than he is in game situations.

Who knows but Les hasn't proven to be the brightest candle in the box with anything offense related for quite awhile, if ever

There was plenty of pre-season talk about "don't fall asleep on Etling", but it was all but dismissed here as click bait journalism.

I heard from a player's parent that Danny was "coming on" the last two weeks but he was stuck practicing with the second team offense. They were griping that Miles should play him but probably wouldn't.

I think more time with the first team in practice and additional game experience should improve from the JSU game performance.

It depends what you mean by"That good".

He's not a serious NFL prospect or anything that is special.

The question is whether he's good enough to enable the playmakers on this offense.

Listening to Gordy Rush, he says that Harris looks good in practice, yet is struggling mentally in the games. He equates it to the guy who stripes the ball on the driving range, then gets to the first tee and slices it OB.

He also said that he was impressed with what Etling showed in one of the scrimmages working with second and third teamers against the first string defense. He got equal first string reps with Harris in practice for the first time the week before JSU, and is getting all the first team reps this week.

Remember that Etling was a 4 star QB out of high school that signed with Purdue because of some family lineage. He got thrust into playing as a true freshman behind a terrible offensive line and no running game.

Miles has tunnel vision. Harris was going to be the starter no matter what.

I realize there is a ton of anti-Miles sentiment out there, and most of it deservingly so, but this is flat out false.

If you want to beat out the incumbent, you either need to be significantly better than him in practice or you need him to stink it up in games. It is doubtful Etling did the former, so the latter fell in his lap and he took advantage.

Miles has shown throughout his time here that he'll play the best man for the job, regardless of position. This kind of ignorance is from the same people who think Mett should have played in 2011 when his 2012 campaign was worse than both JL and JJ were in 2011.

We're talking about the same coach who left Kendall Beckwith on the sidelines for DJ Welter. Is it really a shock?

The decision to go with a more veteran QB isn't crazy.

This. I also think that Harris has a higher upside physically/arm strength wise than Etling and that had to play into the decision.

Les' Loyalty to time spent is a problem for others getting playing time.

Unlike Spurrier & will change QBs on any play to get results.

If you can't make plays, try something

What does one scrimmage prove? Harris looked better than Etling at the spring game. Both are a drop in the bucket in the overall evaluation process.

Miles does a lot of things wrong, but this isn't one them. LSU under Miles has freshmen that play all the time.

This is flat-out false. Miles was the one who forced the change from Welter to Beckwith. Welter was Chavis' pet project.

Your disdain for Miles has been noted, but please keep your future criticisms grounded in reality.

You know exactly nothing, your opinion in this matter is shite. Up until Saturday you were all Harris and Etling needed to ride the bench. You seriously have no credibility whatsoever. You really should find other subjects to comment on.

I'm in the minority but think that Harris can still be a good QB at LSU with the weapons around him. Even all of the ESPN talking heads were singing his praises on the morning of last year's Bama game. Then, he gets an injury and struggles down the stretch.

I'm hopeful that Etling can be the guy from here on out but still think Harris can do the job if all of this hasn't affected his head.
