re: SQ: If Etling is that good - wouldn't the coaches have seen it in practice?

He's better off not being coached by the asshats that run the O. He will look like Harris or worse by the end of the season if they start "coaching" him.

...or some players are better in practice than in games. I suspect BH is better in practice whereas DE may be more of a gamer.

I kick that question back at you in reference to 2006. Russell throws 3 ints and a fumble and never inverts Flynn. What happen in 2007? And the two losses is on Les.

You have a major issue that I won't talk shite about a player. You were mad last week that I didn't shite on Harris and you're mad that I won't do it now. For whatever reason you think that supporting Harris last week = I hate Etling, which is horse shite

This is simply not true. You ignored the little bit of information that came out on Etling and put people calling for Etling down as the usual LSU Fan's calling for the backup. You also ignored the information that came out on BH. When I'm wrong about something I admit it. I certainly don't act as if I never called people out in ignorance and act as if I wasn't wrong all along. It helps if you are going to call people out to be right about a subject.

I think Harris was good enough in practice that old stuck in the mud Les could justify not making a change.

I think the expectations are too high for the backup to live up to.

But I imagine it would be hard for a coach to justify dropping a 2 year starter for a Purdue transfer without giving Harris at least a game.
It's sad that a lot of people don't understand this.

Also, like previous people have said, BH has all the physical tools you'd want in a Power 5 QB. He can probably light it up in practice too. People are acting like he practices as shitty as he has played this season and I just don't see that being the case.

Regardless of what the rant thinks, Miles wants to win and I'm sure he would have liked to have the playbook open a little more. Not saying we'd turn into an uptempo offense, just saying I'm sure he'd like to be more balanced. However, when your QB can't complete simple 3-5 yard out routes, just how much confidence would anyone have in opening a playbook?

And I know we all wanted to see Danny against Wisconsin, but in reality, the game was right there for our taking and I'm sure they didn't want to run the risk of throwing Etling out there cold and him throwing an INT or turning it over. The rant would have been on fire even more so had that happened.

Cam turned Trent Green and Elvis Grbac into Pro-Bowlers, back when the Pro-Bowl still meant something. Look what he did with Randle El. Look what he did with Brees/Rivers, LT and Antonio Gates. He coached Flacco from 08-12. There's only one asshat that's getting in the way.

Harris was also great in practice. Do you bench your starter who looks good in practice for the other guy that also looks good in practice!?

C'mon man

I agree. Practices are so much more controlled than a game. I thought Cam being on the sideline this year would be very good for BH, to give him something similar to practice, but that obviously didn't work. I thought there was no way a guy who lost the starting job at Purdue could come in and win the LSU job, but that was under the assumption that BH would improve, not regress.

Looking good in practice doesn't mean much IF

A. You panic when under real pressure.
B. You can deal with your friends pass rush but not the rush of people you don't know.
C. You can pick up on the blitzes because you have 3 minutes to think about it before it happens in practice.
D. In practice you are always throwing from proper body position because defenders aren't hanging on you are chasing you and your WR must be hit in a fairly narrow window.

DE does a better job of this than BH.

Wtf are you talking about. How would anybody know that BH was gonna be a deer in the headlights this season before it starts!? Or that DE wasn't gonna be Jarret Lee 2.0 with interceptions.

BH may be great in practice and fall apart in games.

I do think a lot of BH's issues are mental and dealing with pressure (both psychological and pass rush).

The coaches could see BH as a higher ceiling if he can put it together but Danny is a lower ceiling lower floor.

Miles does a lot of things wrong, but this isn't one them. LSU under Miles has freshmen that play all the time.

This was the first year Etling was eligible to play, right?

Harris started last year. No issue with giving him the ball to start the season as the returning starter who looked improved at the end of last year. This is a classic case of 20/20 hindsight. And it still only took 5 quarters into the season to make the change.
