Solo vacations. Do you do them?

I’m taking my second solo trip to Big Bend next month. Can’t wait. Wife hates long car rides. I love them, especially in remote and barren places.
Some people cannot stand to be alone. I am an only child so it’s pretty much my natural state. I love traveling alone. I don’t go many places without the missus (no pics) but she gives me the periodic yard pas.

Not sure if it counts...but when I travel internationally for work, I will generally add a few days on for me to explore (sometimes domestically). Always nice being able to do exactly what you want to do, when you want to do it.
But I don't believe I've ever done a true solo vacation.

I took a four day solo vacation to the Smoky Mountains just to sleep for a few days. It was glorious. Best vacay ever.

When the in-laws come to stay for two weeks. Have to travel “on business” and pick a nice city.

I’m going to Roatan the first week of November solo. My wife doesn’t like to dive as much as I do, so I’m taking a trip with my dive shop.

About 14 years ago, I took a solo trip to the Grand Canyon and Sedona. I really enjoyed it, and it was freeing not having to worry about anyone but myself.

Done a couple of weeks in Japan, a week in Hawaii, a couple of weeks in Germany, in addition to a bunch of tagged on couple of weekdays to business trips.
Her work requires her to mind the store more than does mine.

I thought I was the only one that did this. If there is a meeting in Tokyo on Tuesday, you bet your arse I'm landing Thursday afternoon to spend a long weekend doing my thing.
Even before I got married, solo vacations were the thing. Great for exploring destinations of all sorts.

I haven’t yet but I’ve been seriously considering it. I like the idea of how much easier traveling alone would be as well as the freedom to do whatever activities I want.

Just returned from a two-week Midwest trip.Watching the sunrise while driving, stopping for odd places or things, staying off the interstate and seeing small towns, and stopping early to enjoy the evening after a slow paced day. Definitely recharged the batteries. Satellite radio is worth every penny.

Sorta, I hunt alone, I'll go home to KY and ride my ATV in the mountains alone. I like being in nature. But I wouldn't go to NYC alone.

Never really wanted to travel alone, but sometimes I wish I hunted. The thought of a few hours alone in the woods on a crisp morning sounds great. Once I get a new boat I'll be able to get out during the week for some solo fishing trips

My hobby is photography and Mrs Slings isn't really into it.
So I take photography tips to national parks in the US.
Went to Abruzzo Italy a few years ago.
Mostly, me and the wife travel together.
