…..Who gets #8 next year?

Some of the previous #8’s were
Mikie Mahtook
Mason Katz
Alex Bregman
Jake Fraley
Cole Freeman
Antoine Duplantis
Matthew Beck
Daniel Cabrera
Gavin Dugas

Only Matthew Beck on the players listed above was a pitcher. Maybe Thatcher Hurd if they go that route? What about Tommy Tanks as a position player?

I know a lot of you don’t like this tradition including #7 and #18 in football, but the players seem to like it.

Who will Gavin pass this leadership responsibility onto next season?

Tanks has a tiger tattooed over his entire arm, if he doesn’t get #8 then the tradition should just end there

I’ll wait to see which or any juniors comeback. I feel like 8 should be a senior. I know it hasn’t always been that. Just my opinion, because it’s so rare to see a decent guy play all 4/5 years. I feel like they would be a natural leader, what the number embodies anyway.

I agree that he is deserving, but 47 is just such a random number and he rocks it so I don’t want him to change lol

I think it might be Pearson. The guy has stuck it out and had his highs and lows but has always come through. His home run in the CWS and that snag against Wake Forest.... wow.

Everyone might initially say Tommy, and I wouldn't have a problem with that either.

It'll be interesting to see who gets it.

I'll check back later for comments... and fully expect those to lose their shite over something that they claim us a stupid tradition. Just like they claim in football. But I'd bet fat rat to a funky monkey that those hating these traditions were never worthy of something like this while they were in their "athletic prime."

Travinski was my first thought with the way Jay signaled him out first at the ceremony.

Pearson. Gives you really good at bats and saved game 1 against Florida

The exit velocity on that hit was like 109. Not sure people understand how good of a play that was. Going back on a ball like that and leaping to make a catch on an a laser

I just can’t see him coming back next year. He came on HOT at the end of the year at the right time. I hope I’m wrong (for LSU) but the dude bleeds purple and gold and has a great story, so for him I hope I’m right. We will see this weekend.

I don't have a problem with any of the names mentioned above. All had big contributions to this past season's championship run and all represent the program well.
