More tape on us;

The D front played a ton of snaps and looked tired to me the last two games

bullshite, you saying this implies that Saban couldn’t figure this theory of your out of it was true.
I guess UGA couldn’t figure it out either because LSU had 500 yards passing.

I think for the DL especially the guys were taking too many snaps.

Not a championship culture built yet so they ran out of gas.

Gameplanning more for Daniels (spys)

Gameplanning more for Perkins.

Honestly we have to get to the point where bama is just another game instead of the game

this is an awesome conversation. I agree with you. Bama vs LSU isn't Army vs Navy. (I read an awesome long form article about Monken pulling Army up out of there depths of a losing streak to Navy by spending 700 days in two years on Navy prep). This is not the old Big 8, which was referred to as the "The Big Two Plus Six".

There are some who feel its right to emphasize Bama. A take down the king of the hill kind of thing. I'd like to remind everyone that Les didn't get fired for losing to Bama. He got fired for losing to Arkansas and Ole Miss. The SEC is stout top-to-bottom, meaning the margins of victory in league games are slim. If LSU shoots their wad and beats Bama every year for the next decade it doesn't mean that we are so damn good that won't find ourselves in dogfights other Saturdays.

I feel that we will know the program has made it when the Bama game is a Saturday we can take more in stride. The emotional drain win-or-lose from the Bama game needs to be less. The buildup to the Bama game needs to be less.

Playing in really crappy weather at 11 am at Ark had letdown written all over it. Fortunately we had #40 & they did not. I didn't see any letdown vs UAB. Very solid performance. A&M had a great game plan against our offense. And played a QB we likely had not scouted very much. And their WR Muhammad played out of his mind. And unfortunately having already clinched the West there were probably quite a few guys looking ahead to UGA. Classic trap game.

Defense was very obviously drained to me against A&M and UGA. We werent playing many guys and had handfuls of guys essentially play the whole game who have been doing that a lot this year.

On defense you really gotta have depth and guys you rotate and we simply didnt have that luxury much.

The downhill running games of ATM and UGA really exposed our biggest weakness on D which was MLB. If you go back and watch those games you’ll see Greg Penn making mistake after mistake in the run game and getting torched in the passing game. On offense after those critical turnovers vs Arkansas JD just refused to push the ball downfield even though the turnovers weren’t really because of taking shots. It’s a mental issue for JD not a physical one.

Reasons:

1. we played teams who have good running games up the middle. We have fast linebackers, but they don't play gaps well.
2. SEC games, on the road, with a very young roster normally does end well.
3. J. Daniel's critical turnovers. Against Arkansas, we are driving for an early score, and we throw an interception. Against Texas A&M, he gets the ball knocked out of his hand and gets returned for a TD

You keep repeating this like penn gets all the blame. Penn was horrible but the entire d gets blame. Him and baskerville was both hitting wrong gaps. Foucha played the run horribly at safety. The line was getting pushed out of gaps.

It takes more than 1 linebacker being bad to let a rb rush for 230 yards

Running defense is a team effort.

Daniels has very limited ability executing the passing game.

Teams adjusted to what Perkins was doing.

This is an excellent point! I would add that teams realized they could cage-rush Daniels, and spy him, and he could not consistently hurt them.

Should have been 13, against the best defense in college football.
