The committee left out an undefeated Florida St. team so leaving out a team that 10-2 or 9-3 is not hard to explain at all.

they left them out because they thought they sucked without their qb.

There's going to be lots of teams with former NFL players this season. By the end of the year it won't really mean a damn thing

The same thing stopping the SEC and NCAA. It would be an anti-trust violation in the absence of collective bargaining.

We all know the circumstances but ultimately they left out an undefeated team. Period

there were no automatic bids in the College Football Playoff (CFP) at the time. The 4-team CFP (2014–2023) was purely selection-committee based. Conference champions did not receive automatic qualification; the 13-member committee ranked teams using factors such as results on the field, strength of schedule, head-to-head results, common opponents, and (explicitly in the protocol) the unavailability of key players.

Oh, just a slam dunk antitrust / illegal collusion lawsuit with multiple plaintiffs and massive legal liability that will set back the entire system in ways it’s hard to imagine. That’s all.

I don’t know what’s so hard to understand that there’s no cute way to get around an unambiguous legal order.

You saying it’s against the law for a committee to choose a school over another?

I’m sure every university has signed something saying they will accept committee decisions.

And they were right….

It was the wrong decision, but they were right

You make a really good case to sign as many pro players as possible and win all the games

The CFP is a perceived independent body. They are not in actuality an independent body. Their membership is made up of conference representatives acting on behalf of each conference. They are also an affiliate to the NCAA because each conference is an affiliate.

Any rule they try to roll out that might prejudice a university will also be added to the TROs or injunction.
