When more than half the eligible teams have “Pro players” they will have no choice. Money rules over everything

This. Once that cat is out of the bag, there will be multiple teams with "former NFL" players.

The quotes are important because calling these guys former NFL players is silly. If a guy never makes a 53 man roster, he is not an NFL player. I mean is Diego Pavia a former NFL player because he had a cup of coffee with the Ravens? Come on.

The 12-0 Florida State team was in a 4 team playoff and lost the one guy who made them any good offensively, so a little different, but you are correct.

If we buy the CFP committee has it in for LSU, and we go 9-3, that record would have to get them into the SEC Championship Game, and they would need to win to be assured they get in. Maybe true for 10-2 as well.

But 9-3 has not made this CFP format yet except as an auto bid.
9-3 Texas, USC, & Michigan did not make it (as well as at least 4 other ranked teams with 3 losses

10-2 Notre Dame, BYU, and Vanderbilt also did not make it but part of that was due to auto conference bids, which put 10-2 Tulane and 12-1 James Madison in instead of them.

Ultimately, some of that will depend on what a whole lot of other teams do and who the losses are to.

ETA: Somehow misread the Bama end-of-season record. I have corrected it. Thanks to Waterlink for pointing that out to me.

Go 12 and 0 or 11 and 1 and you make it hard for them to do that.

We don’t have pro players, actually they were cut and not good enough.

But they may have never gone to the draft if the NCAA told them they had another year of eligibility for college before they declared.

I disagree. If Pyburn comes back and plays for LSU this year, he got a few sacks in NFL preseason games and never made the 53.

In my opinion, if you make the 90 man training camp roster you are in the NFL. Most college players don't even make it that far

Some people are saying that anti-trust laws would prevent that from happening. IMO, that is NOT true at all because as you hinted at, these are judgment calls. Having said that, what would stop the CFP committee from making a ludicrous choice would be public opinion AND legal action not related to anti-trust. If you remember when Florida State was left out as you mentioned, their starting QB got hurt and then had basically no offense after that. But even then one or more Florida politicians threatened to sue. If the CFP tried to leave out an obviously deserving LSU team, there would be hell to pay from multiple directions...politicians, media, fans, etc. I don't think they want to have to hire a team for lawyers and have to explain under oath what happened. There is a little thing call perjury also in depositions and live testimony under oath.

Really? Strongly disagree. I don't think even those players have seen it that way. You would really call a guy who was cut after his first training camp a former NFL player?
