I am speaking as a conservative. Landry wanted Tate and Woodward gone. They are both gone. He replaced them with Rousse and Verge. Let’s sit back and see how this all works out. It was a political power play. I think this happens in other states, but it’s not so out in the open thanks to Landry.

I do believe Verge won’t be making this hire. He will be steered in the direction they want him to go. He is just a puppet

The good news about Verge taking over is that we will likely be able to retain Jay Johnson. An outsider as AD usually means eventually they bring in their own people, that is just the way it works.
I've met Verge several times, he is well qualified to handle the coaches. What I don't know is if he can make it rain money the way Scott could.

The previous AD signed our last coach to a 10 year contract with a $50 million buyout who, by the end of it, was:
- Getting dominated by vandy and a&m
- Not even going through game situations in practice
- Not talking to recruits directly
- Keeping an OC around who was in way over his head
- Berating local reporters for questioning the unit that was performing poorly because he kept said coach around
Verge will have to try to frick it up that bad again. It is possible? Sure.
Is it likely? I’d say no.

I mean, when incompetent and unqualified people get hired, it says a lot about the people in charge. Ironically, Verge is a straight perfect example of how DEI goes wrong by promoting his arse after he should have been fired years ago.
