GONZALES —- The FAA is now investigating an early morning plane crash that happened in Ascension Parish with the pilot fortunately walking away with minor injuries. The crash happened just before 5 a.m. on Oct. 13, according to flight records.
Gonzales Fire Chief Preston Landry says firefighters and deputies responded to the Louisiana Regional Airport in Gonzales for the plane crash.
At the scene, a Cessna 210 was found in a field just feet from the airport’s runway, and its motor fell out prior to the plane crashing and landing upside down. Chief Landry said the plane had just taken off when the incident unfolded, leading to the crash. He added it was very foggy this morning at that time. The pilot, a 74-year-old Ascension Parish resident with decades of flying experience, was walking around when officials arrived and only had minor injuries. The exact cause of the crash is under investigation.
Any further details would be released by the FAA, including the details of what led up to the crash.

apparently his decades of flying experience didn't remind him to check the engine to make sure it doesnt FALL OFF!
I hate to criticize a senior citizen, but WTF is a 74 YO fossil doing flying an airplane? There is a reason for mandatory retirements in commercial aviation. You get old. Your reflexes slow. Your vision and hearing fade.
And you don't notice shite like the whole engine on your single engine Cessna isn't securely fastened to the rest of the aircraft.

Horrible reporting.
The motor is in the middle of the road.
Google maps shows the house in the background of that photo.
That house is about 1000 feet northeast beyond the end of the runway.

The house is near the spot that is labeled "plane nuts aviation"
