A sad day for not only LSU, but the entirety of the baseball/sports world.
Thanks for all the great memories you brought us as fans. You're a legend of the likes which we'll never see again. You transformed LSU baseball from a doormat program into THE premier college baseball program in the country. Even more importantly, you helped develop hundreds of young men to be successful in life.
Thanks for everything coach and may you rest in peace. I know Mrs. Sandy will be happy to see you by her side in heaven.

He took a sport that no one went to watch and turned it it to proposal sell outs and 5 national championships.
I remember going to a game with a friend ( his dad was a reporter for the state times) in 81 or 82 and there being no one there.
In 91, Bertman put on a fall ball league that I attended. One night a week at his batting cages. One night at a field (sometime Alex box) and then a game on Saturday.
He truely loved the sport of baseball and has to be considered the father (maybe grandfather) of LSU baseball
Prayers for him and his family.

There are really no words for this. Skip brought so much to LSU and to Louisiana. I can remember how much fun I had as a kid at his LSU baseball camps in the early 90's. His version of college baseball was so much fun to watch it was always amazing. Thanks for everything coach.

LSU athletics were sleeping giants at the time of his arrival.
He woke up baseball, and brought the program to spectacular heights.
More importantly, he set the bar at LSU.
Since his arrival, the Tigers have won in Gymnastics, Women’s basketball, and have had multiple coaches win titles in Baseball and Football.
He resurrected “the Brand” as we know it today.
I have lived during a golden age in LSU athletics.
For that, I have to say…thanks Skip - RIP sir.
