The fans and consumers ultimately pay for it.

That would start an immediate lawsuit for violation antitrust.

As soon as they price the fans and consumers out of it, guess what will happen?

Why put a cap on something people are willing to pay for?

You end up with something like the Yankees in Major League Baseball. The richest schools get the best coaches. I say put a stop to this crap before it gets further out of hand!

Other teams have an option to spend more money on who they think is better players, and in return hope to win more games/championships. Why shouldn't universities be able to do the same?

Something along these lines with GAs was put into place years ago and the courts found it illegal.

Yes, it’s an antitrust violation.

And how many Championships have the Yankees won in the last decade?

No, the Yankees get the best players because they can offer the most money due to inconsistent league rules that benefit them as a major market team. Coaching has nothing to do with it. And pseudo-socializing college football is a fricking terrible idea

This is easy for you as a fan of one of the haves to say but what about the have nots.

What I believe will happen is the power 5 schools will break away from the NCAA and do their own thing. We are probably still a long way from this but I think it will happen at some point. Power 5 schools have gotten too big for the NCAA to deal with.

A power 5 league would thrive and the NCAA can go back to what it was designed to do. Organize and control schools that aren’t making millions of dollars a year.

While we are at it let’s put limits on coaches and players based upon race. Your coaching staff and rosters must be within 5% plus or minus of the racial make up of the nation. If race A is at 70% of the population of the nation then that race must be from 65% to 75% of your roster and coaching staff or whatever that. Percentage may be for any particular race. You are trying to create a crazy utopian fair world with this salary idea so let’s not do it half assed. Let’s do it for everything.

I think this more closely represents socialism, but your point is well-taken. The fact that somebody even had this thought is disturbing.

If it would apply to college football, then it would apply to every single industry in this country. That is frightening.

If I remember correctly, a while back the ncaa told LSU that it’s media guide was too big and would be a disadvantage to other programs. So why the hell don’t they cap coaches salaries. Or was I mistaken.

How can they limit the max when the schools don't actualy pay the bulk of the coaches salary?
