When the SEC needs to make the call, they put David Smith as the head official for whoever LSU is playing.

Former Alabama QB David Smith

Now lets look at the games he's officiated between LSU and their opponent.

2026: LSU-Ole Miss (32-23) (Road) L
2025: LSU-Vanderbilt (31-24) (Road) L
2023: LSU-Ole Miss (55-49) (Road) L
2022: LSU-UGA (50-30) (Neutral) L
2021: LSU-UCLA (38-27) (Road) L
2021 LSU-Kentucky (42-21) (Road) L
(0-6)

LSU is allowing an average 41 points per game when he's officiating while all of the games being away from Tiger Stadium

Numbers and facts don't lie. People here makes claims about, yet I presented you facts.

Tennessee has a beef because he was on the call this past weekend against South Carolina. But he's been even worse when it comes to LSU games.

By your own words, we deserve to be 0–6 in those games.

They can misrepresent the truth if they are cherry picked though.

- Is this 100% of the games he has called against LSU in the time span you provided?

-What do the penalty numbers look like against LSU in games he has called, and how do they compare to other games that same season?

-Is there a huge discrepancy between penalties called against LSU versus their opponent in these games?

- Do penalties called against other teams in these games differ greatly from the rest of their season?

Given the fact of who made this thread, I will not be expecting any of that information, and I will just make a safe assumption that this was very much cherry picked.

Regardless of validity, no ref, under any circumstances, should be allowed to officiate an SEC game of a university that he attended and actually played for.

I saw a conflict 2 weeks ago that had me personally confused on how the league would let it happen. There were no issues, but the optics dont pass the test of looking suspicious, if a wierd situation would have occured

Go look at the penalty discrepancy and you'll see why

You did all the research but you left out the penalty discrepancy between the teams. Also average penalty in other games in the same season would with the games in question being left out.

We had the int overturned in the Auburn game...I was blown away we got the call even though it was the correct call. We need to get over the refs always screwing us. Or watch how bad the calls are around the country. BYU ripped the kickers helmet off and they ran the clock out for the kicker losing his helmet

I believe the fact that he’s officiated only away games for LSU can be partially explained by geography. If he’s based in north Georgia or north Alabama, it makes sense for him to call games closer to that area, if there are crews closer to Baton Rouge.

It also makes sense for LSU’s record on the road to be worse than at home, especially in down years. We just broke a road conference losing streak.

As others have posted, the real comparison should be penalties with and without that ref. Road games in the same seasons ideally. And comparison of penalties between the teams in each game.

From the UCLA game, their RB had a career day and he wasn’t wearing black and white stripes.

The UGA game was the SECC game that year. The LSU D was baby soft and the 50 points UGA put up might be the easiest they got all season.

ok, but surely you understand that correlation doesn't equal causation.

It is more likely he is just incompetent rather than corrupt

It just so happens that Tennessee has the same issue with him on road games where his crew has taken away game winning touchdowns.

Tennessee has an atrocious record on the road as well

Good point. 3 of the games you listed involved games played by two of the worst defenses in the history of LSU football. Maybe that has something to do with it.
