Big year for CBK.

Lot of question marks with this football team. Interested to see how he navigates all of them

I never thought I would like Brian Kelly as much as I do. The guy has his finger on the pulse and gets it. I pray he gets over the hump soon and gets himself a championship because he deserves one. Or 2. or 3.

At this point any year we don't make the playoff is a disappointment imo. Hopefully this year will be the first of many.

I like BK. But, winning the west is the absolute floor for BK this year. No Saban. A & M in flux. Alabama Poly at the bottom. Ole Miss is still Ole Miss. You don't compete for an SEC title this year, you just aren't going to compete for one, which at this point is more difficult than making the playoff.

Looks like we’ll be firing BK then, considering the “west” doesn’t exist anymore

There is no West anymore.

Will probably be a top 10 team this year.

He's already played in an SEC Championship Game....

Yeah there is no more west, but I get your point. Honestly at this point making the SEC Championship is obviously nice, but as long as we make the playoff I'll be good. There will be 3 SEC teams in every year, and probably 4 in some years in which the SEC is very strong.

Yall going to be so upset when our defense looks barely improved.

Hint: It wasn't just House, we have massive holes on our defense, and all our fans are worried about is "Perkins needs to Blitz more" when he looked terrible on 95% of his blitzes.

If we had a middle of the conference defense, I could buy into the talent/numbers argument as a possible root cause. But we had the worst defense in the conference besides Vandy. Sure, we were thin talent wise, but even that part of the equation can be laid at the feet of House. He was fired for a reason.

Define barely improved. We were absolutely horrible. 70th in the nation would be a DRASTIC improvement. But sure, if we are still in the bottom quarter of defense's nationally, I will be pretty fricking pissed.

You know what's funny? Depending on the defensive ranking metric used, we were pretty bad right? CFBstats has us at 108 with 416.6 yards given up per game.

70th, which was Ole Miss had 382.2 yards per game. 34 yards per game was the entire difference.

Is that really drastic? Overall, last years 108, at 416.6, back in 2019 would have been 84th.

Even if Baker comes in and improves 50 spots to 58th, that's still 371 yards per game.

I keep saying it over and over. Our fans are putting MASSIVE pressure on Baker and Perkins with these ridiculous assumptions that Baker is going to have a top 20 defense and that Perkins is going to have 10 Sacks next year. That's simply not the case. We have a week dline, and our secondary is going to be almost the exact same.
