SaturdaysDownSouth: "LSU Could Knock the SEC out of the Playoffs..."

As if I (or any LSU fan) cares whether or not LSU winning out keeps the SEC out of the playoffs. I care about how LSU does, and the talking heads on the committee will do whatever they're going to do regardless of how LSU fans feel about it.
It may be true, but #dontcareonebit.
First and 10: Worst case scenario? LSU could knock the SEC out of the playoffs.
Bonus flame: Author of the article seems to think that the B1G would get Michigan (unbeaten) and tOSU (1 loss) into the playoffs, and that tOSU would get in ahead of a 2-loss LSU SEC champ because of the "quality of their wins"....
WTF? Okay, they'll have one less loss, but I'll put victories over Bama and Georgia against beating ND and Penn State any day this year.
What does the Rant say about this?

If LSU beats Alabama and wins out, and plays Georgia in the SEC Championship Game and wins, there may not be a path for the SEC to the final 4-team Playoff.
How does this happen? Follow along:
— Unbeaten Michigan wins the Big Ten, and earns 1 Playoff spot, leaving 1-loss Ohio State — with big resume wins over Notre Dame and Penn State — as the likely 2nd team from the Big Ten to earn a Playoff spot.

Seriously?! Is LSU supposed to lose for the benefit of other teams?

So he’s saying LSU beating #2 UGA, #8 Bama and #12(right now)Missouri wouldn’t be big resume wins?

What cracks me up is if Bama were in our spot, the article would be the exact opposite. If Bama would win out, they would be jumping through fiery hoops to explain how the 2 loss SEC Champ Tide were a given in the playoff.

That’s for the refs to decide

No but it does worry me that the conference will officiate the game a certain way to protect league interests.
I think the Bama game is less of a candidate for this because Bama has a loss and isn't a shoe in either but he SEC Championship game could be influenced to make sure the SEC gets UGA in.

I don’t see how you can leave the SEC champion out and put the same 2 Big 10 teams who went 0-2 in the CFP last year in unless you really want to break SEC dominance.
I also don’t see how you put 12-1 TCU in lastbyear and leave out 12-1 UGA AND the team that beat them.

I only care if LSU wins it. Anyone else can suck it. Would love to squash the UGA three peat dream

Im really not sure what is impressive about the Big 10. Doesn't like half the conference or more rank towards the bottom of total offenses in the country?

The SEC will protect Alabama and Georgia at all costs. They will not be allowed to lose.

Really don't give a shite about SEC. There is only one team for me and that is LSU. Rest of SEC can all lose every single game
Posted on 11/1/23 at 11:59 am to Dotarian
Good. If we aren’t in I don’t want any other SEC team in and give them a recruiting advantage.

So Penn st is a good win? If they lose to Michigan, Penn st's only quality win would be against #24 Iowa, the ONLY ranked team they beat.
So I don't think you osu can claim the Penn st win as a quality win when Penn st virtually beat no team of worth. They are so overrated every year.

Yeah don't care as long as LSU wins. It helps LSU in the long run if UGA and bama don't win NCs.
On a side note...it's so fun reading stuff like these eye popping numbers

They’re averaging 18 plays of 10+ yards a game, and 8 plays of 20+ yards a game.
They look a whole lot like the last LSU offense that went into Tuscaloosa and forced its offensive will on the Tide and won. That 2019 team was the best offense in the modern era of college football.
This one isn’t far behind. Nor is the possibility of LSU winning, and starting a chain reaction that could lead to the SEC missing the Playoff for the 1st time ever.

quote:that’s what the REC is for. They’ll have refs make the calls that benefit the SEC since Bama is still in the playoff race.

You’ll will never convince me going forward that there is an equal cost/benefit of playing these big week one games. It doesn’t make sense when you’re in the SEC West

This.
The SEC is genetically inclined to help Bama, but it always looks after its financial interests. That means if it considers LSU a potential risk to getting one or more teams in playoffs, LSU will not get the critical calls from the officials. Its nothing personal.
There's too much money at stake and we have seen the conference do this over and over
