I’ve said this from the moment the SEC started talking about kicking LSU out and filed suit. This is a few schools that have Sankey’s ear.

Alabama, and Texas don’t want to compete with us. Especially, Alabama. They find it so utterly disgraceful to have to admit LSU is a much better job and program than they are.

Ole Miss doesn’t want us around because of how bad we made them look publicly. And now it looks like everything is clicking……it’s way too much for them to handle.

If the SEC doesn’t succeed, Sankey, Carter, Byrne, and Del Conte will be gone.

If logic was at the center of this? Yes. This ain't about logic. It's emotional butthurt men who also see an opportunity to damage their biggest threat. They see this as a chance to kneecap Lane Kiffin before he rattles off a Saban run. They know that's coming. There's a reason this wasn't filed until today.

Who is going to force him to step down? By most accounts, he has support from a large number of the university presidents and chancellors he reports to.

He likely has the support of the other schools, unfortunately

I don't know that they are fully grasping the ramifications of an eventual LSU versus the SEC potential jury finding.

That finding, with trebled costs, could push SEC exposure toward a billion dollar award to LSU, even with LSU finding its way to the ACC in 2027. LSU would see four years or so of a lean budget, followed by a massive payout.

That is assuming, of course, LSU would win at trial. However, I think that is a reasonable assumption.

Negative, Sankey is basically Roger Goodell .... both are employed by money-hungry owners and conference schools who are making more money than ever. Sankey knows the NCAA has been to court hundreds of times, and the athletes have won every case. He decided to use the only power he had (15 other SEC Presidents) to file a countersuit in Birmingham and threaten Kiffin and LSU.

When it's all said and done, watch how much praise Sankey receives from ESPN, the sports media, and other Conferences. He will be anointed the Savior who finally silenced Kiffin, Wade, the Governor, and the LSU Athletic Department.

There definitely seems to be more to this than what we're hearing. Sankey wouldn't act alone but it doesn't make sense that anyone other than OM and maybe Tenn would want us out of the conference. And regardless of what people here want to believe, leaving the SEC would he a huge negative. The schedule, brand, money would all suffer. We don't have the national audience that ND has for people to tune in when we play the service academies. And TS would become a shell of itself

Those "money hungry owners" had better be weighing the risks of monetary awards down the line if LSU brings this to trial. It could get very very expensive.

While your statement regarding Notre Dame is true, the situation is much more complicated. TV rights are the issue. LSU TV rights are not LSU owned. They are owned by the SEC.

LSU would take a huge hit both in terms of cost of scheduling (paying opponents to play in Baton Rouge), scheduling away games of interest, and wrangling TV revenue from the SEC.

Rather than going independent, it's far more likely LSU would land with the ACC. That would entail an annual hit of $15-$20 million. It would also likely end up with a court case that could net LSU as much as $300 million to $1 billion in four or five years, courtesy of the SEC.
