It’s still a bad call in hindsight. That whole sequence was mind boggling.

The rest of the game was positive, though

I think what we saw was pretty vanilla in regards to down field passing

Once we unleash Hilton and Brown down the field it might start to get pretty scary for opposing defenses

I have to say I enjoyed the second half play calling. The first half sucked arse.

Your opinion sucks not Sloans 1st half play calls. We fumbled twice in the first half which cost us not the plays Sloan called. Here's your book

I agree, Sloan seems more nuanced to start the year. My only gripe (because it’s TD and we’re required to have one), is the painfully long adjustments we make once the play is called. On the road in a loud environment, I feel like abyss struggled to communicate the plays in a timely manner. This happened last year as well at A&M and UF. Just wish they were a little quicker to attack. Maybe they were just trying to burn clock to keep Klubnick off the field?

the highlights are sharp, but there was a lot of head scratchers.

too much horizontal stuff. When they looked to the middle of the field, plays were made.

I didnt like how they tried to ice the game, or some of the stuff before half.

There was a big 3rd/11 play after the TD was called back that was just a complete waste of a play. Ball on the left hash, 1 WR left, 3 WR right. Despite a clean pocket, Nuss rushes, stares him down and throws into double coverage on the short side of the field.

Bull fricking shite. He’s had many absolutely indefensible playcalls. All last season right up and through the first half of this Clemson game.

Thankfully the second half was far better than the first.

IT was hard to see what some of the coverage was on TV, but i would love to see quick slants to Anderson or Brown mixed in. I think clemson was playing a lot of zone though.

Sloan gets a B+

The sequence when Brown's TD was called an incompletion, followed by a missed FG also could have been a back breaker. But this team shook both of those off and played a disciplined and controlled game on both sides of the ball, with high energy in spite of a couple of big setbacks.

This right here. Instead of saying we got screwed and moping or sulking this team came together and said Let's finish this shite.

My only gripe was a few 3 and longs where the play was a short yardage play that originated 2-3 yards behind the LOS. Like, did you really think that was going to work?

Just one time, I would LOVE to take random Joe here from the board that does nothing but bitch and moan about the OC and play calling and put them in a practice and see how long it takes for them to be completely lost and not even understand what they’re looking at.

Things that you don’t necessarily see in a first game of the season.
Minimal mistakes and penalties.
Composure across the board.
Resiliency when things don’t go the way they were designed.
Everyone, coaches and players acted like they had a job to do and nothing else mattered.
The two fumbles and having a TD taken away from us could have sent us into a tail spin but we strapped up, stood tall and finished what we went there to do. The makings of a fun season. Geaux Tigers.

The best part of having Nuss is that he can check in and out of plays. Let him QB, no issues with him doing his thing at the line.

The WR penalties…meh, it’s game 1, loud environment…it’ll happen.

Call before half. I’m okay with it if the thoughts were that Hilton is a baller and needs to go make that play. No fumble = 1st = clock stop. He has to execute. He will next time.

Good gameplan overall.

Take away the final 2 drives and Sloan was phenomenal. A lot of the last 2 could have been Kelly though. He is a capable of being a very good OC. We really don’t have a true WR1 either which makes what he did all the more impressive. AA is doing his best to fill that role though.
