Whitley was incredible. Garth Brooks and Alan Jackson were great too. Really wish Alan would put some more stuff out.

I'm going to stay out of the bickering in this thread

Miami is a jeckyll and hyde team like us. Last season they beat ND badly, but nearly lost to a horrible North Carolina team and lost to a struggling Pitt. I'm not impressed with Malik Rosier at all. If he doesn't improve they won't go far. Their D is really good, but their key to wins is forcing turnovers. If you have good ball protection, Miami is very beatable.

This has me nervous.

In a classic Miles team, we'd have a dominant running game and strong D, and we'd win a game like this in fairly boring fashion. We won a lot of such games in that manner. Ball control has it's place.

We don't seem to be a ball-control team for this upcoming season, and that's dangerous against a good defense that generates a lot of turnovers.

Our defense is going to put pressure on Rosier and cause a lot of problems against their OL. He became very prone to turnovers in the last few games of the year, so a guy like Greedy could get 1-2. They do however, have a very good RB and WR, and despite what I said about Rosier, before the last two games, he had over 3200 total yards and 30 total TDs to only 9 ints.

Burrow will be enough to give us some kind of passing game, but their defense is no slouch. They have a potential top 3 round MLB and CB, a damn good OLB, they have a pretty damn good DE, and they have a safety coming back that some consider the best player on defense from last year. All of these guys are Juniors and seniors. LSU's OL needs to give Burrow time because they have 3 guys in the front 7 returning that had at least 7 TFL (2 with 11), and he needs to be careful with the ball as they have two DBs that had 4 ints a piece last year.

Honestly I see this game close, but we can win by 6-7 if Burrow is able to play solid and is given time, and the D starts off the year like I expect.

Our defense should be very good, but I can't get over the horrid OL I saw in the spring game with my own two eyes. Maybe Chaisson really is that good and will be in the backfield on every single down this season. I guess we'll see.

Miami is no slouch and can easily beat us by 17 if things don't go right.

Then they would have to win 17-0 and we have to be total garbage on offense. I think people forget that as LSU fans we do have a pretty solid point of reference when it comes to championship defense. We have had championship teams. Just like bama fans, Florida fans, Auburn fans, etc, we know it when we see it because we have seen it before. If this is supposedly a championship level LSU defense, Miami is not beating us much less beating us by 17.

Should be an interesting and telling game. If we can get a win it only adds to the fact that we get better every year under Richt. I'd feel better if Malik wasn't the QB to tell you the truth. Richt wants to roll with experience though instead of the more talented guy, Williams. Play-calling on offense will also be crucial against a physical defense.

Could see this being a lot like the VT game although we won't have home-field advantage. I expect those wrinkles with DeeJay at QB and running some wildcat. Will be a good game for Lingard to get some burn.

LSU is better

Everyone on this board said the same thing before the Notre Dame fiasco in the Citrus.

The better team don't always win when you have a less than par coach.

I expect to see a top 5 D open against Miami and like I said - this one point should be enough to win the game - a passing game with good balance with a rushing attack gives LSU a 17 point win.
