I am not suggesting with this post that everything OU is doing would work for LSU and Baton Rouge; however, it exemplifies good “outside-the-box” thinking. Imagine if we had something similar on the river?

After plans stalled in 2017, a new way forward has been identified that will result in the University of Oklahoma basketball -- both men's and women's teams -- moving to a brand new facility near I-35 in north Norman.
The university will lease the new arena as the centerpiece of a billion-dollar development that includes a venue for major entertainment and sporting events as well as retail shops, restaurants, bars, offices, a hotel, and housing for thousands.
Wednesday morning, a coalition called Team Norman unveiled a new plan that would represent a collaboration of The Norman Economic Development Coalition (NEDC), the University of Oklahoma, the City of Norman, Cleveland County, the Norman Chamber, VisitNorman and the Norman business community to create a proposal.
Approximately 80% of the plan’s $1 billion cost would be paid through private investment. The remaining 20% would be paid through public sources. None of the funds would come from the city or county general funds.
In addition to Sooner basketball, the new venue would host OU's gymnastics competitions. The University of Oklahoma

wow look at the diversity in those pictures.

Made a thread saying we should do the exact same

Very cool. Only thing that I wouldn't be a fan of for LSU is that this seems pretty far from Oklahoma's campus. I think the idea of having the majority of LSU's facilities around campus is one of the great aspects of the campus that not every school has the advantage of

Would be pretty cool if they made like a sports bar square area or something around the athletic venues.

My man this is LSU where we drag old shite over to our new builds because Louisiana

Build it north of campus, starting in the "Presidents Streets" area, right across the street from TGBFTL Facility/Practice Field.
Purchase all the land and raze the entire downtrodden acreage all the way to the Interstate. It would benefit LSU and the City of BR to modernize and evolve that area that's a perpetual public eyesore.

LSU would never. The only changes we make is raise prices on everything and add more advertisements to the scoreboard.

100% agree. That said, if you move the T&F facility and blow up the PMAC, you have the space to do something like that entertainment district and arena on campus.

They could build on what's already at Nicholson Gateway putting a new PMAC at the track complex and create a smaller version of the OU plan.

That's somewhat in the works. New outdoor track and swimming facilities will likely happen at the same time. Nicholson Gateway needs a pedestrian bridge to actually make the area super feasible.
New complexes are most likely going to be across Alex Box in the LSU golf course.

Oklahoma U isn’t putting up the Billion dollars.
The proposed site isn’t on campus.
If private investors think they can make money in BR then it’s a viable option, but I don’t see anyone pushing something like this; nor do I see LSU encouraging a project like this.

Gameday:

Nongameday:

Take out the people's health, hancock whitney, OLOL and Cox ads and there is tons of space there for a score and stats.

And those currently residing in the area to be razed?
I guess they could be provided with moving trucks to California, where they could receive reparations soon. Win-Win!

Make it sound so easy

Years ago La. 30 should have been rerouted West of the campus and along the levee.
The existing boulevard would only be open to light vehicle traffic and it would be more pedestrian friendly.
That would be safer than having all those tankers driving through campus 24/7. It would be safer for students, fans attending games and a big improvement to campus life.

I believe that there were plans to do something similar several years ago, but the developer went bankrupt.
