My favorite top 5.

1. Herb Tyler - all he did was win, never has gotten the credit he deserved. IMO the best Tiger Qb ever as far as reaching his full potential.

2. Alan Risher - was Qb of the 1982 team that made me fall in love with LSU football. Still to this day my favorite LSU team ever.

3. Rohan Davey

4. Tommy Hodson

5. J. Russell

Every list needs to start with Tommy Hodson and Bert Jones. Period.

Your list and mine are exactly the same except order and your thoughts on Alan Risher almost mirror mine.

I was 11 in 1982 and that's when LSU football and I developed our eternal bond.

He was the only QB to get beat by State in the last 18 years and UAB as well.

He was also first team All SEC.

I am sure the rantards will shoot this down but I love how people come on here and bash Howard and Booty. I agree both vastly under performed and did not live up to expectations. Booty was 1st team all SEC voted on by the coaches, and Jamie Howard was the starter on the team that got to the first bowl game under Dinardo, shame he got injured and then Herb took over for the bowl game. Out of the two Howard was much better, he under performed but damn Carl Reese was the oc.

4. Matt Mauck
5. Jamarcus Russell

Why, in your opinion, is Mauck ahead of Russell?

Every list needs to start with Tommy Hodson and Bert Jones and Y.A. Tittle. Exclamation point.

Tittle led the Fighting Tigers to a 9-1 record and a #8 ranking in the final AP poll. LSU then tied Arkansas in the Cotton Bowl. Tittle lettered for the Tigers from 1944-47.
